Dear community of the Universidad Austral:

We are addressing you at a time of deep conflict in the Middle East region, in which many of our colleagues, friends, and loved ones are directly affected.

We want to emphasize that we strongly condemn the terrorist acts that have occurred in Israel. We wish to express our solidarity and support during these difficult times, understanding that both Israelis and Palestinians are victims of terrorism, and both communities are facing extremely painful and distressing situations. The images of civilians, including children, taken hostage and caught in the crossfire, and entire families displaced from their homes, deeply sadden us and reflect a tragedy that deserves our attention, regardless of nationality, religion, or culture.

In this complex and painful situation, there are no winners. Violence and war have never been solutions for humanity; they only perpetuate the suffering of all involved. Peace without justice is never true peace. It is essential to seek peaceful solutions that address the needs and aspirations of both sides. Justice must be complemented by forgiveness, which plays a crucial role in this process, as it is necessary to heal wounds and restore broken relationships.

Our sincerest wish is that the suffering and violence will cease. Undoubtedly, it is urgent to end this conflict through a just and sustainable solution aimed at achieving reconciliation.
