Sustainability Declaration
La Universidad Austral It aims to contribute to the world's sustainable development in accordance with its mission, beginning with its local community, through teaching, research, outreach, and its own institutional management. Therefore, sustainable development is integrated into the strategy and permeates all university activities.
Sustainability Plan
The ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) Plan of the Universidad Austral Its central purpose is to implement sustainable and comprehensive practices at all locations, aimed not only at reducing environmental impact and improving energy efficiency, but also at strengthening social responsibility, promoting transparent institutional governance and consolidating an academic culture committed to sustainability.

From the dimension environmentalThe plan promotes actions to optimize the use of resources, reduce the carbon footprint, and foster an ecological awareness among students, teachers, and administrative staff that translates into sustainable habits on and off campus.
In the dimension socialThe University is committed to promoting equity, inclusion and well-being for its entire community, enhancing programs that connect with the environment, support vulnerable populations, community development and the creation of safe and participatory spaces that strengthen the social fabric.
As to good governmentThe plan incorporates principles of transparency, institutional ethics, and accountability. It prioritizes participatory decision-making, responsible resource management, and the adoption of policies that guarantee integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
From the dimension academicThe aim is to integrate sustainability into curricula, promote applied research on environmental and social challenges, and foster interdisciplinary projects that involve students and teachers in innovative solutions for sustainable development.
The Sustainability Plan is aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), with the movement Praised Yes and with the global commitment Race to ZeroThus reaffirming the University's orientation towards social and environmental transformation, and its active participation in international goals to address the climate crisis and promote fairer and more sustainable development.
Objectives
- Reducing the University's carbon emissions. We are committed to the United Nations' Race to Zero initiative, which aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
- Reduce the carbon footprint associated with waste, energy, the supply and value chain, and water consumption.
- To increase the social commitment of the members of the University
- Generate actions sustained over time that produce a positive social impact in the community.
- To raise awareness about caring for our common home among students, teachers, and staff.
- To make visible good governance and transparency practices.
Annual Report
The Sustainability Report of the Universidad Austral It annually brings together developments in environmental, social, academic and corporate governance issues, as well as progress made in relation to the sustainable development goals.
🌎 Sustainability Graduates Network
The Sustainability Graduates Network was formed in May with the aim of strengthening ties, building bridges and opening new channels of cooperation, putting the professional contributions of its graduates at the service of the University and the surrounding community.
The initiative seeks to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting opportunities for collaboration and exchange among its members, as well as joint work with academic units and students of the Universidad Austral.

Sustainability with a Christian identity
In Universidad Austral We see sustainability as an essential part of our Christian mission and our commitment to caring for our common home. Inspired by Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si', we promote a integral ecology that articulates respect for the environment, social justice and the dignity of each person.
Laudato Si' Commitment
La Universidad Austral It is certified on the Laudato Si' Platform, reaffirming its institutional commitment to ecological conversion processes.
We are members of the Laudato Si' Movement and have the participation of Lic. Mariela Mucilli, Laudato Si' animator, who accompanies and promotes awareness, training and ecological commitment actions within the university community.
Community in action
Throughout the year, the university actively participates in initiatives such as the Laudato Si' Week and the Month of Creationwith proposals for reflection, dialogue, and awareness-raising aimed at students, teachers, and staff. Among these activities, the screening of the film stands out: The Charter, which invites us to renew our personal and community commitment to the care of creation.

Dimensions of Southern Sustainability
We set out to guide efforts and actions towards improving sustainability in all locations and in the educational community in a coordinated and collaborative manner, and focused on the main Dimensions of Sustainability: Academic, Environment and Community/Society.
Programs
Sustainability permeates the curriculum of all our faculties' degree programs. Our university offers programs with a specific focus on sustainability, carries out impactful research projects in this area, and encourages students to lead and promote projects aimed at improving it. Furthermore, sustainability is one of the five priority areas of the 2030 plan.
Environment
It is a priority to fulfill our mission and vision by incorporating practices that can last over time without depleting available resources, causing the least possible impact on the environment, and starting with the spaces of each of our locations.
Community / Society
In Universidad Austral We conceive of sustainability as a comprehensive commitment to human and social development; we work to generate a positive and measurable social impact, strengthening the people and communities with whom we interact, both inside and outside the University.
Good Governance and Institutional Governance
La Universidad Austral The Austral University Hospital promotes a Good Governance model based on ethics, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. This approach is reflected in its governance structures, institutional policies, strategic alliances, and participation in international standards and rankings, strengthening the trust of the community and its stakeholders.

Our team
The Sustainability Management team is made up of a multidisciplinary team of experts, and is responsible for developing and implementing the University's Sustainability Plan, in constant coordination with the institution's government, the Central Areas and Academic Units.
