La Universidad AustralWith the aim of promoting dedication to research within its academic staff, it organizes various annual calls for proposals with funding opportunities for the development of scientific activities by research groups at different stages of training, in all academic units and the Austral University Hospital.

UA Annual Research Competition

With the aim of promoting the development of research activities and supporting and encouraging the work of teacher-researchers, the Universidad Austral Since 2005, it has held annual Internal Research Project Competitions.

Currently, the Internal Competition for Scientific Research Projects of the Universidad AustralIt has eleven (11) modalities that include the participation of human resources dedicated to the development of research activities in all stages of academic training.

The Vice-Rectorate for Research of the University calls for 21th Internal Competition for Scientific Research Projects 2025. The call for applications will take place from Friday, July 4th to Friday, August 8th.

In this edition of the competition, the selected projects will be funded with higher amounts than in previous editions, and their awarding is likely to be more competitive.

In turn, graduates of the Universidad Austral as applicants.

The Evaluation Committee will be composed, on this occasion, of Drs. Constanza Arriola, Miguel Cavaliere, Hernan Ferrari, Graciela Mazzone, Belén Mesurado, Mónica Prieto, Esteban Pittaro, Mario Rossi, Sabrina Roscani, Carolina Sanchez Agostini and Andres Sanchez Herrero.

The funds available for this call amount to $ 117,000,000In addition, the Austral University Hospital (HUA) will allocate $800.000 for the HUA modality.

They will be able to submit their projects in one of the following formats:

  • Modality 1: “Projects of established researchers”. Maximum amount to be financed per project: $5,000,000;
  • Option 2: “Projects for Initiation Researchers”. Maximum amount to be financed per project: $3,325,000;
  • Modality 3A: “Doctoral Research Projects”. Maximum amount to be financed per project: $1,350,000;
  • Modality 3B: “Master's student research projects”. Maximum amount to be financed per project: $1,100,000;
  • Modality 4: “Research projects by graduate and undergraduate students”. Maximum amount to be financed per project: $650,000. This modality incorporates, for the first time, graduates of the Universidad Austral as applicants.
  • Austral University Hospital Modality (HUA). Maximum amount to be financed per project: $400.000;

 The projects are biennial for modalities 1 and 2 and annual for modalities 3A, 3B, 4 and HUA.

The application form must be submitted through SIGEVA Austral (using the "Submission/Application User" role) for modalities 1, 2, 3A, 3B, and HUA, applying to the corresponding call for proposals. For modality 4, the required documentation must be submitted via email to the following address: investigacion@austral.edu.ar

The Vice-Rectorate for Research of the University calls for II Internal Competition for Interdisciplinary Research Projects on Structural Problems in Argentina (2025). The call for proposals opens on Friday, July 4th, and the deadline for submitting projects is Friday, September 1st. The funds available for this call amount to 40.000 USD (forty thousand dollars).

They may submit their applications under this modality. “Interdisciplinary Research Projects on Structural Problems in Argentina”These are interdisciplinary and interfaculty research projects that seek to understand and contribute solutions to the main structural problems of the Argentine reality. Structural problems are characterized by requiring the intervention of several disciplines to solve them and affecting a variety of stakeholder groups. While solutions to these problems are of crucial importance, they are not readily available.

This call for proposals uses a set of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations as the criteria for defining the aforementioned structural problems. The selected SDGs are related to the main challenges for Argentina in the coming years: 1) No poverty and zero hunger; 2) Quality education; 3) Reduced inequalities; 4) Peace, justice and strong institutions; 5) Industry, innovation and infrastructure; 6) Good health and well-being.

The projects submitted must, in turn, be framed within at least three Areas of knowledge, according to the Unesco Classification of Areas of Science and Technology (Annex 1 of the bases).

The HUC Seed Fund is an initiative of the Hemispheric University Consortium (HUC), which brings together universities from Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, and the United States. This consortium aims to facilitate collaborations in education, research, and innovation, generating knowledge and solutions to address regional and global challenges.

In a context where scientific and social problems are increasingly complex, this fund supports innovative projects that address issues of social, economic, and scientific relevance. Furthermore, it promotes interdisciplinary research and the active participation of students, contributing to the development of research skills and, most importantly, to securing additional funding.

The funds available for this call amount to $ 67,500,000In addition, the Austral University Hospital (HUA) will allocate $800.000 for the HUA modality.

They may submit their projects in one of the following categories into which this Competition is divided: “Projects of established researchers” (Modality 1), “Initiation Research Projects” (Modality 2), “PhD research projects” (Modality 3A), “Master's student research projects” (Modality 3B), “Undergraduate student research projects” (Modality 4) and HUA (Austral University Hospital modality).

The projects are biennial for modalities 1 and 2. And annual for modalities 3A, 3B, 4 and HUA.

The amounts available for each modality are as follows:

The Vice-Rectorate for Research of the Universidad Austral announces the 18th Internal Competition for Scientific Research Projects 2022. The call opens on Monday, July 11th and the deadline for submitting projects is Friday, August 12th, 2022, at 18pm.

The Evaluation Committee will be composed, on this occasion, by Dr. Francisco Albarello, Dr. Jorge Aquino, Dr. Claudio Cavasotto, Dr. Florencia Coronel, Dr. Ricardo Crespo, Dr. Gabriela Fabbro, Dr. Pablo Fernández, Dr. Victor Herrero, Dr. Hector Miguens and Dr. Monica Prieto.

The funds available for this call amount to $8.000.000 (modalities 1 to 9 and HUC). In addition, the Austral University Hospital (HUA) will allocate $120.000 for the HUA modality.

The amounts available for each modality are as follows:

    The maximum amount per project will be $60.000

  • “Research Projects in Transfer” (Modality 9)

  • “Research Projects in Applied Data Science” (Modality 7)

    The maximum amount per project will be $260.000

  • “Interdisciplinary Research Projects” (Modality 5)

    The maximum amount per project will be $260.000

  • “Undergraduate student research projects” (Modality 4)

    The maximum amount per project will be $40.000

  • “Master's student research projects” (Modality 3B)

    The maximum amount per project will be $48.000

  • “PhD research projects” (Modality 3A).

  • “Introduction Research Projects” (Modality 2)

    The maximum amount per project will be $140.000

  • “Projects by long-standing researchers” (Modality 1)

    The maximum amount per project will be $245.000

Research Masterclass

The Research Master Class began in 2021, commemorating 30 years since the creation of the Universidad Austral, with the aim of promoting an internal research culture, giving visibility and recognition to the work of those teacher-researchers who, in addition to satisfactorily fulfilling their teaching, management and advisory duties, carry out outstanding efforts in scientific research.

The Research Masterclass takes place every year in November.

Regulations for incentives and stimuli for scientific production

The Vice-Rectorate for Research of the Universidad Austral invites its researchers to apply for the call for proposals for incentives for scientific production. This new mechanism aims to reward the effort, dedication, and commitment of those who contribute to the advancement of knowledge through their work in the Universidad Austral.

Implementation will be the responsibility of the Vice-Rectorate for Research, in collaboration with an Advisory Committee made up of the Research Secretaries of the different academic units.

The call for submissions will be open from July 15 to August 14 of each year.
