The fastest-growing news channel in the region signed an agreement with the Cybercrime Observatory of the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Austral to generate content that promotes prevention and digital education in the region.
In a context marked by the sustained growth of cybercrime, the Latin American news channel DNEWS sealed a strategic alliance with the Universidad Austral to produce content that raises awareness about the risks of cybercrime in Latin America.
The channel's journalistic team, internationally awarded for content such as "Narco Families", will work alongside experts from the Observatory of Cybercrime and Digital Evidence in Criminal Investigations (OCEDIC) of the Faculty of Law at our University.
The agreement signed last Tuesday, March 31, at our University's Buenos Aires headquarters, contemplates the production and dissemination of specialized journalistic content that will address various issues related to cybercrime, from an informative perspective with academic backing.
The objective of this strategic alliance is to promote awareness and sensitivity regarding the risks posed by the digital environment across the board, from children to older adults in an era marked by hyperconnectivity, which is configured as a global problem that demands prevention.
DNEWS, the news channel of the WAIKEN ILW holding company, which reaches Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Mexico through DIRECTV and the DGO streaming platform, will incorporate into its programming schedule content aimed at informing and preventing about cybercrimes, digital scams, misuse of personal data and other threats of the virtual world, with regional reach.
The agreement was signed by Gabriel M. Astarloa, dean of the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Austral, and was attended by Daniela Dupuy, director of OCEDIC, and Sebastián García Alaniz, Marketing and Communications Manager of the Faculty of Law; Leonardo Flores, Vice President of Own Content of DIRECTV Latin America; and Marcelo Salomone, News Director of the channel.
“ DNEWS is the news channel created and promoted in Latin America for the region and the world. In our search for professional content with academic backing, we found in OCEDIC the strategic partner to disseminate prevention mechanisms against a global problem such as cybercrime ,” Salomone stated after the signing of the agreement.
For her part, Daniela Dupuy, director of the Observatory, highlighted the importance of the initiative based on her experience in the judicial field: “ I have observed this need in my role as a prosecutor specializing in cybercrime in the City of Buenos Aires, as I have received a constant and growing number of cases that we investigate and prosecute. What we seek with this awareness campaign is to prevent these situations from reaching the criminal justice system, since the emotional and financial damage suffered by victims—of all ages—is often irreversible .”

With this alliance, DNEWS and the Universidad Austral They reinforce their commitment to education, prevention and social responsibility, betting on quality information as a key tool to face the challenges of the digital ecosystem.
