The Austral Intellectual Property Team of the Law program ranked among the top 3 universities in Latin America in its first participation in the Latin American Moot Court on Intellectual Property Law 2026 , among 105 educational institutions in the region.

The competition, organized by ASIPI , the Andean Community Court of Justice , and INTA , simulates a real litigation in two stages. In the written phase , teams drafted briefs for both sides of a highly complex hypothetical case. In the oral phase , they defended their arguments before expert juries.

This year, the case revolved around an advertising campaign for an energy drink that used, without authorization, the trademarks of a football federation and the images of its players. It sparked a debate about well-known trademarks , protected since 1925 by the Paris Convention , a debate that has gained renewed relevance in the era of social media, sponsorships, and global sports marketing.

The team speakers were Aylin Nogueiro and Paz Beverina from 5th year, with support from Paulina Vázquez (5th year), Juana Walker, Celeste González Medel, Lourdes Gómez Pinasco, and Pedro Santiago Gonzalez Martin (2nd year). The coach was Professor Lucas Lehtinen , director of the Master's Program in Intellectual Property, with the collaboration of Belén Ghilardi (Austral Law School graduate) and Valentina Ventura (5th year).

We celebrate this achievement, which reflects the talent, preparation, and commitment of our students, as well as the support of their teachers. Congratulations to the entire Austral Team and their directors for this outstanding participation!
