About the Faculty

The Faculty: a leading institution in the country and in Latin America

The Faculty of Law of the Universidad Austral Currently, the Faculty has over 500 lawyers enrolled in its eighteen Master's programs and its Specialization program, more than 30 doctoral candidates, and 450 undergraduate law students. Additionally, over 5.000 lawyers participate annually in continuing education activities through its extension programs. The Faculty, which pioneered Master's programs in Law in the Spanish-speaking world in the early 90s, is designed to train individuals capable of analyzing legal problems and making decisions to resolve them in the diverse roles they currently hold or will hold as lawyers, corporate advisors, judges, public officials, or legislators.

Principles that form the backbone of the identity of the Faculty of Law

The Faculty has developed a strong interaction between the following principles that structure it:

  • Teaching through participatory and dynamic methods.
  • A faculty of excellent academic standing and with a strong commitment to university life.
  • The search for a comprehensive education.
  • Personal academic advising.
  • The active promotion of scientific research.
  • Mutual commitment, respect, and seriousness in the dealings between the Faculty and the student.

 

All of this has resulted in numerous highly innovative approaches to legal education, which have proven highly effective in undergraduate and postgraduate legal training. This new type of legal education, pioneered by the Faculty, is becoming a standard for highly demanding law schools and has already been requested for implementation by universities in a dozen Latin American countries.
