Law students Paz Beverina (5th year) and Zelmira Aberg Cobo (4th year) represented the Faculty at the Law Without Walls (LWOW) competition finals. Beverina's team won first prize . The event took place between March 13th and 15th at the Nova School of Law and the Nova School of Business and Economics in Portugal.

LWOW is a prestigious invitation-only program, created and directed by the University of Miami School of Law, that integrates law and business. It brings together law students from universities around the world, including Harvard, Bucerius University in Hamburg, the University of Sydney, Stanford University, University College London, the Catholic University of Chile, and IE Business School in Madrid, among others. After two months of webinars and collaborative work, the inter-university teams meet in a host city for the final event ( The Sprint ). There, each group must solve a real-world legal-business challenge posed by a large corporation, with guidance from the company's lawyers and global law firms.

First Prize for Paz Beverina's team

In this edition, the team comprised of Paz Beverina , along with a student from Harvard Law School and another from the University of Melbourne Law School, won First Prize . They worked on a case for The Walt Disney Company , advised by lawyers from the company itself and from the Dentons law firm . The challenge consisted of designing a strategy to implement Artificial Intelligence in theme parks without losing the "magic" of the cast members , involving complex issues of contracts, data protection, and child protection.

Zelmira Aberg Cobo , for her part, was part of a team with colleagues from Vilnius University (Lithuania) and Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal). Their project focused on resolving challenges related to legal counsel for NatWest Bank (England), particularly regarding the management of external law firms—both in the UK and abroad—and the use of the Pursuit platform . They received support from lawyers at the Ballard Spahr law firm and from the bank itself.

A tradition of excellence

The participation of the Universidad Austral LWOW has become firmly established in recent years. 2026 marked the 8th time the Faculty participated in this program. At the end of 2024, a note on the institutional website highlighted the participation of various Faculty teams over the years, and in particular the team that represented us that year in Madrid (see note). In 2025 the Universidad Austral It was represented by students Lucía Betzel, Victoria Guevara and Felicitas Corti, who competed in the edition held in Buckingham, United Kingdomo.
