The Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Austral He participated in SABI 2023, the 24th Argentine Congress of Bioengineering and the 13th Clinical Engineering Conference, held from October 3 to 6 in Buenos Aires. The main objective of this congress is to foster an environment conducive to the dissemination and discussion of work and experiences in the field of bioengineering, as well as to publicize technological solutions with a significant impact on health and overall quality of life. Furthermore, it sought to establish exchange and cooperation relationships among bioengineering students and professionals in Argentina and Latin America, promoting research, technological development, technology transfer, and innovation.
In this context, the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Austral The faculty actively participated, demonstrating their commitment to advancing the field of bioengineering. Marcos Bamonte, a doctoral student, presented an article related to his doctoral thesis on artificial intelligence applied to biomedical data. Additionally, for the first time, the faculty presented two posters in the student category, represented by students Josefina Arcagni, Matias Moghetta, and Santiago Fontana. Ignacio Cassol, executive director of the Biomedical Engineering program, was a member of the Congress's Scientific Committee and accompanied the students presenting one of the posters.
Josefina Arcagni presented her study entitled “Validation of the Predicted Bacterial Metabolic Degradation Pathways in the Human Microbiota using a Method based on Enzymatic Promiscuity”, focused on the intestinal microbiota and its impact on health (Universidad Austral – Tecnun – University of Navarra). This is the result of their study and research stay last year at TECNUN (Basque Country). Matias Moghetta, along with Santiago Fontana, presented the study entitled: “PH Measurement Workshop for the Promotion and Development of Biomedical Engineering with High School Students.” This participation demonstrated the talent and dedication of our students in the field of bioengineering.
