Children's Day: a childhood of little moments

Academic/Unit: Pamela Bocek.

I recently read a text by Marcelo José Molina, a family court judge in Rosario who shares stories full of everyday life from her work, a reflection that deserves to be made on this Children's Day: “The first days of the lives of the two girls and the little boy in front of me had not been easy. The three siblings were there for me to get to know. I then had to decide if a new family would be better for them (...) The middle sister, without putting down her pencil, looked up at me and asked: 'Are you the one who's going to find us a mom?' I answered, 'Maybe, perhaps.' Without taking her eyes off mine, she said: 'We want to live with a mom, how long will it take?' A silence fell over me, perhaps it was no more than a second, but it seemed eternal. 'A little while,' I replied. 'And how long is a little while?' she questioned, at six years old.”
