The Cardiology Residency Program at Austral University Hospital began in 2010. Since then, it has developed a sustained track record of academic and clinical training. To date, 29 specialists have been trained.

Upon graduation, the university specialist degree will be awarded by the Universidad Austral because the residency program is accredited by CONEAU. A specialist degree from a CONEAU-accredited program is valid nationwide. Furthermore, the residency program is recognized by the National Ministry of Health, which allows graduates to obtain specialty certification from the Ministry.

The Cardiology Institute at Austral University Hospital is a leading center for highly complex cardiovascular diseases , offering a comprehensive and interdisciplinary care model. It has highly specialized units, including:
The healthcare activity takes place in outpatient and hospital settings, with approximately 10.000 monthly consultations , a 21-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and an annual average of 1.800 hospitalized patients.
Clinical work is carried out under the permanent supervision of coordinating physicians , promoting the validation of decisions and a comprehensive approach to the patient in coordination with all clinical and surgical areas of the hospital.
The residence conceives of training as a comprehensive process that combines scientific excellence with human and ethical valuesfostering empathy, effective communication, interdisciplinary work, and social commitment. Within this framework, residents participate weekly in the Las Lilas Health Post, a Primary Health Care Center promoted by the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Universidad Austral, which accompanies more than 3.300 familiesintegrating health, education and social inclusion.
Scientific activity is a central component of the training. Active participation in national and international seminars, conferences, and congresses is encouraged, including those organized by the Argentine Society of Cardiology (SAC) , the American College of Cardiology (ACC) , and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) . Residents also participate in CONAREC and the Cardiovascular Continuum of the Institute of Cardiology. As a recent example, a resident presented a clinical case at a joint seminar with the Argentine Chapter of the ACC in New York.
In addition, optional international rotations are encouraged , focused on contact with cutting-edge technologies, strengthening language skills, research, and the development of professional networks.
The training is complemented by internal and external simulation sessions , focused on invasive skills and advanced airway management, prioritizing patient safety.
Finally, the residency program actively promotes academic output , encouraging each resident to develop their own lines of research and publish in indexed national and international journals.
