The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Austral, Eng. Emilio López Gabeiras, was appointed Full Member of the National Academy of Engineering, a distinction that recognizes his outstanding professional career, his contribution to technological innovation and his commitment to the training of new generations of engineers.
The appointment was approved at the Academy's last Ordinary Plenary Session , held in September in Buenos Aires. “ It is a tremendous honor and a responsibility that I gratefully accept. I see this appointment as an opportunity to continue contributing to the development of engineering and the training of professionals committed to transforming society ,” said Engineer López Gabeiras after receiving the official notification.
Emilio López Gabeiras is a leading figure in the field of computer engineering , with over four decades of national and international experience. He founded InterSoft SA , one of the country's first software companies with an international reach, and later created Fuego Inc. , a pioneering business process management (BPM) company, which was subsequently acquired by Oracle . He also founded TekGenesis , which was acquired by MuleSoft and later integrated into Salesforce.
Throughout his career, he has authored multiple patents in business process management (BPM) and has received distinctions such as the Sadosky Prize and the UNIDO Innovation Award.
His link with the Universidad Austral It dates back to the origins of the Faculty of Engineering, where it was the first director of the Computer Engineering programactively participating in the creation of the faculty and the design of its curricula. Since 2016, she has been a member of the University Board of Directorscollaborating on strategic decisions of institutional relevance.
In 2025 he assumed the position of dean of the Faculty of Engineering , with the conviction of consolidating the institution as a space for training excellence, where future engineers combine technical rigor, innovative spirit and human values.
The National Academy of Engineering is a non-profit technical and scientific institution that seeks to contribute to the development and progress of the country through the study, application, and dissemination of engineering disciplines. It was founded on August 12, 1970, at the initiative of the Argentine Center of Engineers , fulfilling a long-standing aspiration of professionals in the sector.
Its founding members were the engineers Enrique Butty, Justiniano Allende Posse, Manuel F. Castello and Luis V. Migone , prominent figures who carried out the necessary steps for its creation under the framework of Decree-Law 4362/55 , which regulates the operation of national academies.
