The Diploma in Data Science provides the key foundations for extracting knowledge from data and applying it to solving real-world problems . The program integrates analysis, modeling, and communication of results, combining Data Science principles with Data Mining techniques.
Throughout the diploma program, you will explore all stages of a Data Science project , incorporating practical tools and methodologies. You will work with Python and R , applied statistics, and machine learning techniques , focusing on predictive models and their implementation in real-world contexts.

This introductory course is designed to provide a solid foundation in programming, allowing beginners to acquire the fundamentals and enabling those with prior knowledge to organize and deepen their understanding. It includes introductory programming content, programming in R, and programming in Python.

Graduates of Computer Science and Systems-related degrees. Professionals from other areas with some exposure to programming or computational methods.
Use of common languages and tools in data preprocessing: R and Python. Preprocessing tasks: integration of various data sources, cleaning, data completion, data reduction, variable selection, and creation of new variables.
Principles of Machine Learning. Data Mining Tasks: Classification, Clustering, Anomaly Detection, Association Analysis. Sequential Patterns. Decision Tree Techniques, Bayesian Methods. Neural Networks. Support Vector Machines. Clustering Methods: k-means.
Natural language processing. Document representation. Text categorization. Text clustering. Topic modeling. Text summarization. Social media. Visualization.
Implementation of a Data/Text Mining project in which the acquired knowledge is applied to a data problem.
The Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Austral will issue the Academic Certificate of approval of the “Diploma in Applied Data Science"to those who comply with the promotion regime."
