Ignacio Silva is a Full Professor of Introduction to Philosophy at the Faculty of Communication of the Universidad Austral and of Theology and Sciences at the Institute of Philosophy, where he is co-director of the undergraduate and doctoral programs in Philosophy of Natural and Cognitive Sciences. He has co-directed numerous research projects involving academics from more than a dozen countries in Europe, Latin America, and North America.
He holds a PhD in Theology from the University of Oxford (UK), where he also completed an MSc in Science and Religion and postdoctoral studies. He also holds a Bachelor's degree and is a Professor of Philosophy from the Catholic University of Argentina.
One of his main research topics is understanding divine providence in relation to philosophical, theological, and scientific thought. His publications include works in philosophy of religion, science and religion, natural philosophy, and medieval philosophy, published in The Journal of Religion, New Blackfriars, Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science, The Heythrop Journal, and the European Journal for Philosophy of Religion. He serves on the Executive Committee of the International Society for Science and Religion, of which he is a member.
Since 2018, she has been part of the Institute of Philosophy of the Universidad Australwhere he continues his work on divine and human providence. He is a member of the International Society for Science and Religion, and a member of the scientific and editorial boards of various academic journals such as Scientia et Fides, Studium. Filosofia y Teologia, Quaerentibus. Teologia y Ciencias, and TheoLogica.
He is a professor in the Bachelor's Degree in Communication and the Bachelor's Degree in Design at the Faculty of Communication of the Universidad Austral.
