Said Chaya is a professor with a degree in Political Science and a doctorate in International Relations.
He works as a teacher and researcher at the School of Government of the Universidad Australwhere he serves as academic coordinator for the Political Science and International Relations programs and directs the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (NEMO). He is in charge of the International Analysis course and the International Conflicts in the 21st Century Program.
He was a U.S. State Department fellow and has pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin (United States), the American University of Beirut (Lebanon), the University of Turin (Italy), and the University of Trento (Italy). In 2022, he conducted research at the University of Navarra (Spain).
He is the secretary of the Middle East Department of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) and a member of the Middle East Committee of the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI) and of the Institute of International Politics of the National Academy of Moral and Political Sciences (ANCMYP).
He is the author of academic articles in books and scientific journals and opinion columns in various media outlets. He is also a member of the organizing committee for the Middle East Studies Conference, jointly organized by the Universidad Austral and the National University of La Plata.
He has been actively involved in the activities of the Lebanese community since 1998. From 2014 to 2016, he served as the World Secretary General of the World Lebanese Cultural Union Youth (WLCUY). From 2021 to 2023, he was president of the Buenos Aires branch of the Argentine-Lebanese Cultural Union (UCAL). He is currently the Secretary General of UCAL, with a term ending in 2025. In 2022, he received the “Julio Marún” National Award for his contribution to the development of Lebanese youth in Argentina, and the “Ugarit” Mention in Science and Technology from the Syrian-Lebanese Club of Buenos Aires for his contributions to the Arab community in Argentina.
