With the aim of stimulating dialogue between philosophy, natural and cognitive sciences, and religious and theological thought among Spanish-speaking academics, the Institute of Philosophy of the Austral University invites postgraduate students and postdocs from across the region to send papers for presentation at the Latin American Conference of Philosophy of Natural and Cognitive Sciences.

Many classical philosophical problems today call for a revision in the light of the discoveries of contemporary science. This review, both in fundamental questions related to science in general, and its redundancy in broader human concerns, has been debated for a long time in the Anglo-Saxon academic field. This conference hopes to offer an opportunity to develop such conversations in Spanish-speaking Latin America.

The presentations, which will last 15 minutes plus 15 minutes for discussion, must deal with interdisciplinary issues in the following subject areas:

  1. Philosophical foundations of the natural sciences
  2. Epistemology of interdisciplinary research
  3. Philosophy of the person and cognitive sciences
  4. Philosophy of religion
  5. Virtues and character
  6. Cognitive sciences
  7. Moral psychology
  8. Ethical issues regarding science and technology

Those who wish to send a presentation for possible inclusion in the program should write to philosophy@austral.edu.ar before October 15, 2021, attaching a summary of the presentation of 300 to 500 words, and indicating the title of the presentation, academic affiliation (including if you participate as a postgraduate student or postdoc) and thematic area in which you wish to present.

Acceptances will be notified by October 31, 2021.

The congress will be face-to-face with the participation of only the exhibitors. Presentations via streaming will not be accepted. Registration is free and certificates of attendance will be delivered.
