As in previous years, the Epistemology and History of Science Conference, organized by the Logical-Epistemological Area of the School of Philosophy and Research Center of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities at the National University of Córdoba, took place. The event was held, as is tradition, at the IOSE hotel in La Falda, Córdoba.
The Institute of Philosophy traveled to participate in the congress. Alan Heiblum, a FONCyT fellow, presented a paper entitled “Epistemology of Deep Time: The Case of Archaeoastronomy.” Juan Francisco Franck and Agustina Lombardi co-authored the paper “Libet’s Experiments and the Possibility of Measuring Consciousness,” in which they discussed the experiments of the American neuroscientist, who claims to demonstrate that every free, voluntary act is unconsciously initiated by the subject through brain processes, before they are consciously aware of having made the decision to perform it. Since Libet himself maintains that for his results to be relevant, it is necessary to resolve two experimental problems, which he intends to solve, the aim was to demonstrate that both issues remain unresolved.
