La Universidad Austral It enters the British Times Higher Education (THE) ranking for the first time for the latest measurement of the World University Rankings 2025. It is positioned as the number 1 university in the country, among the eight Argentine universities that are listed.

“Using the Times Higher Education World University Rankings as a benchmark was a challenge we set for ourselves several years ago, and we celebrate this initial achievement, which highlights opportunities for improvement and a path forward. Among rankings, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings is extremely demanding, weighting more quality indicators and with a strong bias towards university models considered 'world-class'.”, highlights the rector of the Universidad Austral, Mag. Julián Rodríguez.

In this regard, it is important to emphasize that the Institutional Reputation Unit of the Universidad Austral It works on this objective, deepening the consistency of institutional data, the correct affiliation of scientific production, and the deepening of quality assurance mechanisms that are at the base of all solid performance in academic indicators.

Furthermore, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lourdes Perea Muñoz, emphasizes the long-term focus on the development of the academic staff: “In Latin America, there is a sustained commitment from some leading institutions to advance towards certain quality standards that are common in the most prestigious universities, especially in the Northern Hemisphere. Being among the top five privately managed universities in Latin America is a very telling achievement.”For Perea Muñoz, the biggest challenge is “to achieve a balance between this pursuit of excellence and other institutional objectives such as commitment to our particular environment and interdisciplinary research.”

The 21st edition of the ranking includes 2.092 universities, an increase from 1.907 last year, from 115 countries and regions. The number of ranked universities increased significantly, by 9,7 percent this year, making it the largest increase in the last five years and compared to 6 percent growth last year. In the case of our country, while the number of universities has more than doubled compared to the previous ranking, the Universidad Austral It enters for the first time and directly into the 1001-1200 band, while the remaining institutions are in the 1500+ band.

“In a challenging context for all Argentine universities, both public and private, achieving this ranking is encouraging. We are committed to ensuring that the knowledge generated by investment in research effectively reaches all of society, particularly the most vulnerable sectors.”"The Rector reflects."
