Throughout 2014, the Institute of Philosophy hosted numerous visits from professors and researchers from other universities, both within Spain and abroad. We take this opportunity to thank them for their time at our institute.

El Dr. Denis Alexander, from the Faraday Institute, University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), gave the lectures «What models are best fit for interactions between science and religion?" Y "How does contemporary genetics interact with theological understanding of human identity?«, on October 16 and 17, respectively.

El Dr. Gustavo Aucar, from the National University of the Northeast, spoke about «What kind of scientific reality emerges when the microworld of our own universe is explained using the language of quantum field theory?» October 16th.

On August 7th, the Dr. Marta Bertolaso, from the Campus Bio-Medico University (Rome, Italy), gave a presentation at the Workshop of the Second Week of Interdisciplinary Research, asking how the unity of the living being and its relationships with the environment can be understood from a systemic approach.

El Dr. Peter Bussey, from the University of Glasgow (United Kingdom), gave the lecture «Is the universe designed?» on October 16, within the framework of the "Big Questions" Seminar.

La Dr. Cecilia Inés Calero, from Torcuato di Tella University, gave the lecture “Neuroscience and Education. Project “Little Teachers”, on May 6.

La Dr. Valeria Cantó-Soler, from Johns Hopkins University (United States), also participated in the Workshop as a speaker, developing the relationship between biological determinism and physicalism and reductionism, on August 6.

La Dr. María Cerezo, from the University of Murcia (Spain), was a speaker at the Workshop and addressed the topic of biological information and how it relates to determinism, on August 7.
El Dr. Miguel de Asúa, from the National University of San Martín, gave the lecture “Darwin's Beyond"On August 4th. He also participated in the "Big Questions" Seminar, speaking about theKey milestones in the discussions between science and religion”, on October 16.

El Dr. Guillermo Folguera, from the University of Buenos Aires, was a speaker at the Workshop on August 6, addressing the topic of determinism – indeterminism in evolutionary, systemic and organizational explanations of biological phenomena.

On November 17, the Dr. Georg Gasser, from the University of Innsbruck (Austria), gave the lecture “The Naturalization of Man? Prospects and pitfalls”.
El Dr. Francisco Güell, from the University of Navarra (Spain), gave the seminar "Developmental Biology and Characterization of the Living Being: Scientific Exposition and Open Philosophical Questions", on August 4 and 5 and was a speaker at the Workshop on August 7.

On May 22, Dr. Martín Gutiérrez, from the University of Montevideo (Uruguay),
He gave the lecture “Time, consciousness and brain”.

El Father Francisco Leocata, from the Catholic University of Argentina,
He spoke to us about “The person and the sciences of man” on September 11.

On October 17th, the Dr. Hilary Marlow, from the Faraday Institute, University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), gave the lecture «What does it mean to be human?«.

El Dr. Rafael Martínez, from the University of the Holy Cross (Rome, Italy), was a speaker at the Workshop on August 8 and addressed the question of whether the emergence of life on earth requires divine intervention.

El Dr. Hugo Leonardo Rufiner, from the National University of Entre Ríos and the National University of the Littoral, spoke about «Computational intelligence and bio-inspired systems. Could computers replace humans in the future?» October 17th.

On June 12, the Dr. Carolina Sartorio, from the University of Arizona (Tucson, United States) gave the lecture “How not to lose control in a deterministic world”.

El Dr. Ignacio Silva, from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), gave a presentation at the Workshop on August 8, about whether divine providence can cause through the random mutations proposed by the theory of evolution.
August 6, Dr. Hector Velazquez Fernandez, from the Pan-American University (Mexico), was a speaker at the Workshop, addressing the topic of determinism – indeterminism in evolutionary, systemic and organizational explanations and their epistemological assumptions.

El Dr. Rafael Vicuña, from the Catholic University of Chile, gave the lecture «The origin of life on Earth» on August 5th and was a speaker at the Workshop on August 8th.
