Despite the scientific evidence supporting breastfeeding, infants and young children are currently being fed commercial infant formula more than ever before. According to a 2023 publication in The Lancet, only one in two newborns is breastfed within the first hour of life. Given that returning to work is one of the main reasons mothers stop breastfeeding, it is crucial that all those directly or indirectly involved in this process are made aware of the importance of breastfeeding.
