Last Wednesday, February 26, the CABA Headquarters of the Universidad Austral It was the setting for an inspiring meeting. Graduates from all disciplines met with Rector Julián Rodríguez, who shared the Southern Strategic Plan 2028, an ambitious project that seeks to consolidate the university as a leader in the region. “The graduates have much to contribute and much to help us with,” he said.

What is it?

The Southern Strategic Plan 2028 establishes a clear vision: to be recognized in Latin America for the quality of knowledge generation and transfer, committed to the growth of individuals and the progress of society. “All of this is achieved through key pillars such as teaching, research, and a presence on the public agenda, because we want to improve the world ,” Rodríguez explained.

This Plan encompasses five strategic priorities designed to achieve this vision: promoting unity and interdisciplinarity ; fostering innovation in academic offerings ; developing research with social impact ; enhancing the professionalization of management ; and engaging with the community and the ecosystem, particularly with graduates. In this regard, several cross-cutting projects are underway, such as the creation of an office specializing in the funding and management of research projects; the development of a business incubator and programs that promote an entrepreneurial culture within the university community; and the creation of new educational proposals adapted to current challenges.

According to the rector, “the success of this plan can only be achieved through people, and graduates can help us .” Therefore, he listed some ideas for graduates to actively collaborate on the institutional project:

  • Maintain a constant link with the University.
  • Get involved and contribute ideas for institutional improvement.
  • Collaborate with companies and organizations that can contribute to the growth of the University through fundraising.
  • To promote public debate, fostering the presence of the University in key societal issues.

“This project is a dream that may seem daunting, but it is not a false illusion. With the support of the alumni community, the University will be able to achieve greater regional recognition through its relevance in high-quality research with social impact, understood in terms of sustainability. We are counting on you to make this collective dream a reality,” Rodríguez concluded.

To conclude this first part of the day, the graduates had the opportunity to ask questions, contribute ideas, interact and generate new professional networks, strengthening the bonds between the graduate community.
