From the Operations area of Postgraduate programs of the Faculty of Engineering A webinar was organized with a specialist who addressed the challenges of significant changes in organizations' supply chains. In an era where technological advancements demand we evolve, flexibility and agility are needed in each of a company's key areas: Culture, Technology, and Operations. 

Sergio Szterensus, Specialist with solid experience in Supply Chain and Change Management, The webinar began by highlighting the importance of defining a starting point from which to begin undertaking change in an organization.  

Where to start

  • Set the expectations with all the actors involved  
  • Define where and when The transformation project will be carried out  
  • put together a action plan with objectives clear identifying opportunities and taking into account the solutions which have already yielded results 

After defining the key points to begin a transformation process, Szterensus He emphasized that “Technology plays a role in enabling change.” and defined the three axes involved in this regard: the people, the methods and processes, and the equipment. Each one presents different challenges and requires commitment and teamwork. You can have very good strategies, but if you don't take the appropriate approach, they won't work. To achieve change, the entire team must be committed to the transformation process. It's also important to understand that problems and conflicts will arise and that they must be overcome with perseverance.  

On the other hand, the specialist highlighted that The driving force behind the change must be the data. Because by understanding the company's current state, different paths to transformation can be explored. Furthermore, A good method and operational discipline are needed to create a habit and generate a culture of transformation.
