El Center for International Strategies of Governments and Organizations (CIG) of the School of Government of the Universidad Austral It began a new edition of the OECD Dialogue Cycle, an initiative of Observatory of Argentina's Accession Process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) which seeks to bring the work of the Organization closer to those responsible for the design, implementation and analysis of public policies in Argentina and the region.
The first activity of the 2026 cycle was dedicated to “The OECD’s work on artificial intelligence: Principles and Observatory” , and featured the participation of Guillermo Hernández , Policy Analyst at the OECD Secretariat, specializing in artificial intelligence governance and digital policies.
The session was opened by José-Antonio Ardavin, Head of the Latin America Division of the OECD's Global Relations Secretariat. The introduction was given by Francisco Resnicoff, Senior Fellow of the CIG, and included comments from Jorge Vilas Díaz Colodrero, Director of AI, Innovation, Society and Government Observatory Universidad Austral, who provided an overview of the challenges and opportunities that artificial intelligence presents for Argentina and the region.
During his presentation, Guillermo Hernández outlined the work the OECD has been developing to promote innovative and reliable artificial intelligence, making special reference to the OECD Principles on Artificial Intelligence , as well as the OECD AI Policy Observatory (OECD.AI) , a platform that brings together comparative information, tools, indicators and resources to support governments in the design and implementation of public policies on AI.
The event brought together national, provincial and municipal public officials, legislators, academics, postgraduate students and representatives of the private sector interested in learning firsthand about the recommendations and international standards promoted by the OECD on artificial intelligence and digital governance.
A space to support Argentina's accession process to the OECD
The Observatory of Argentina's Accession Process to the OECD was created by the CIG in 2024 with the objective of generating knowledge, promoting public debate and strengthening institutional capacities around the process of accession of our country to the Organization.
Through research, training and institutional linkage activities, the Observatory seeks to contribute to a greater understanding of the standards and good practices promoted by the OECD, generating spaces for exchange between specialists from the Secretariat of the Organization, public officials, academics, representatives of the private sector and students.
Within this framework, the OECD Dialogue Cycle is one of the Observatory's main initiatives, offering monthly open meetings to analyze some of the Organization's most relevant agendas and their application in the Argentine context.
The 2025 edition of the OECD Dialogue Cycle solidified this forum as a key platform for exchange between the academic community, the public sector, and OECD specialists. During that year , eight sessions were held , bringing together 761 registered participants from 19 countries and 22 Argentine provinces . Topics covered included education, health, regulatory reform, digital government, regional development, international cooperation, public integrity, and the OECD Economic Survey of Argentina.

The cycle will continue over the next few months with new sessions dedicated to some of the OECD's main areas of work.
Next session – July 29 | Investment climate
Learn how geopolitical tensions are transforming international investment and what public policies can strengthen competitiveness and attract investment.
The session will feature Ana Novik , Head of the Investment Division of the OECD, and will analyze the main global trends in foreign direct investment, the work that the Organization is developing to strengthen investment policy frameworks and the challenges and opportunities for Latin America and Argentina.

Through this cycle, the CIG reaffirms its commitment to contribute to strengthening Argentina's institutional capacities by disseminating international standards, exchanging comparative experiences, and engaging in direct dialogue with specialists from the OECD Secretariat, thus supporting the country's accession process to the Organization.
