Breaking Borders: A Research Experience in the United Kingdom

Daniel Gattari is currently taking the PhD in Engineering at the Universidad Austral and is currently in the United Kingdom conducting research as part of his work at the Faculty of Engineering.

Daniel had always wanted to experience life abroad: his curiosity about studying in another country had been with him. He wanted to discover the teaching methodologies used elsewhere and connect with colleagues from different parts of the world. In his words: "I always believed it would be a great experience to broaden my mind and further enrich my academic profile."

Together with her partner, they planned to pursue academic activities in Europe for a year. To do so, Daniel set out to establish contacts with research groups and, in this way, became linked with the University of Reading in England. Alli There was a group working on projects related to his doctoral studies, and they were looking for more researchers to carry them out. That's how they decided London would be his home for a year.

“The project I am currently working on aims to identify the differences between two types of treatments that can be used to fight cancer. Through exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, development of descriptive models, and identification of relevant variables, we have achieved promising preliminary results and conclusions that we hope to present at the BCS (British Cardiovascular Society) Annual Conference next June.”

On the other hand, Daniel participated in a session at the ICICT 2024 congress, London 9th International Conference on Information and Communication Technology. There he presented the topic he had been working on for years in the Universidad Austral, focused on image processing of histological sections of cardiac tissue intended for cell segmentation and evaluation of connexin (CX43) distribution.

This experience will undoubtedly provide you with great opportunities and a new perspective on your field of study. At the Faculty of Engineering, we support and encourage our students to participate in exchange programs abroad because we know it is a very enriching process, both personally and professionally.

Congratulations Daniel on such a great decision!
