Public safety in times of crisis: a European perspective

Organized by: Association of Law Graduates y Department of Criminal Law — Faculty of Law Universidad Austral

In person: Cerrito 1250, CABA · Online via Zoom

Public safety today faces challenges that transcend borders: the advance of organized crime, migratory pressure, the erosion of institutional order and the State's response in contexts of systemic crisis raise questions that democracies must answer rigorously and without improvisation.

How is Europe responding to the security crisis? What legal and administrative tools has the Spanish state developed to address the complexities of contemporary public order? What lessons can be applied to the region?

In this open lecture, Professor Dr. Pedro Nevado Batalla will share an academic and comparative perspective on the current state of public safety in Europe, with a special focus on the experiences of Spanish administrative law. This space for reflection and debate is designed for graduates, legal professionals and all those interested in the relationship between the State, public order and fundamental rights.
