A professor at our Law School since its inception, and with a prolific output of books and academic articles, Dr. Alberto B. Bianchi was appointed as president of the National Academy of Law and Social Sciences of Buenos Aires, an institution with more than a century of history.

The Faculty of Law of the Universidad Austral We congratulate Dr. Alberto B. Bianchi, who has been part of our teaching community as a professor of Constitutional Law since the beginning of our educational project, on his appointment as president of the new Board of Directors of the National Academy of Law and Social Sciences of Buenos Aires for the period 2025-2028. Dr. Bianchi has been a member of this academy since 2017, where, prior to this new appointment as President, he held the position of Secretary of the Board of Directors. Currently, Alberto B. Bianchi is a professor in both our LL.M. Master of Laws with a focus on Constitutional Law and in the Advanced Constitutional Law Diploma, as well as in our Master of Laws in Administrative Law. 

“Professor Alberto Bianchi was in charge of the first classes, both in the early days of our University, when we were experimenting with the case method as a way of teaching Law, and when we began the Master's Program in Administrative Law at the Juncal Street location in March 1991. He is a great researcher in the areas of Argentine and North American Constitutional Law and the history of constitutionalism; a distinguished jurist and an excellent and engaging professor who knows how to make the most arduous and complex topics of our discipline interesting and attractive,” he describes. alfonso santiago, founding member of the Faculty of Law, professor of Constitutional Law, director of the School of Government of the Universidad Austral and a full member of the Academy, which will now be presided over by Dr. Bianchi. 

In addition to Professor Bianchi, the professors from our Faculty are also already part of the National Academy of Law and Social Sciences of Buenos Aires. Rodolfo Vigo, director of the Department of Judicial Law; Guillermo J. Yacobucci , director of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure; and Frida Armas Pfirter, director of the Department of International Law and Community Law. 

Dr. Bianchi is the author of more than a dozen books, among which the following stand out: Original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (1989); The Legislative Delegation (1990); Constitutional Control (1999) and Trial by jury – Popular participation in the process (1999), among other reference works for Constitutional Law. 

Finally, he received several awards, most notably the Diploma of Merit from the Awards Konex to the Humanities of Argentina in the discipline "Constitutional Law" (2016) as well as awards from the National Academy of Law and Social Sciences of Buenos Aires (1991) and from the homonymous academy of the Province of Córdoba (2012).
