La National Agency for Scientific and Technological PromotionThrough the Fund for Scientific and Technological Research (FONCyT), it awarded grants to established and active research groups of the Universidad Austral focused on the areas of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Biomedical and Technological Sciences. The call for proposals, jointly issued by the Agency and the University, aimed to support existing research groups and encourage the formation of new ones, with a special focus on training future researchers in the Universidad Austral.

The project PICTO-2008-0038 was awarded funding from the Institute of Philosophy (Resolution ANPCyT No. 188-1). "The debate on Determinism and its physical foundation" directed by Dr. Claudia Vanney, with a grant of $138.871,68 and a Type 1 doctoral fellowship.
