We are pleased to share that last Thursday, October 26, the presentation event of the Center for Sports Studies (CED) took place at the Headquarters Rosario from our University. This event marks a significant milestone for our institution and the region as it aims to raise awareness about the importance of professionalizing sports, an activity in which Rosario and Argentina stand out in the world.
The CED, which has been operating for years at our University, became part of the Headquarters Rosario to find new impetus in its work. This strategic change is fundamental to continue promoting research and knowledge transfer in related areas, and to establish the importance of specialized training in the field of sport and sports management.
During the event, attendees had the privilege of participating in two panels, each led by prominent specialists and recognized figures in the sports industry. The first, titled "Psychological Aspects of Sport", It delved into the mental and emotional aspects that influence the performance of professional athletes. It was led by Paulo Ferrari, a former footballer for Club Atlético. Rosario Central, Hernán Llano – coordinator of youth development at Club Atlético Newell's Old Boys, and Luciana Aymar – former member of the Argentine women's national field hockey team, eight-time winner of the World Player of the Year award and declared a "Hockey Legend" – shared their knowledge and experiences, offering valuable insights into the athlete's mindset and its impact on the game.
The second panel, "Management and Innovation in Sport"The event focused on innovative practices in sports management and how these can drive development in the field of sports. Experts Martín Mackey, physical trainer for Los Pumas (the Argentine national rugby team), Walter Vittola, Director of Technology and Systems at the South American Youth Games, and Sebastián Peratta, former professional footballer and Sporting Director at Club Atlético Newell's Old Boys, shared key ideas on how innovation, the application of new technologies, and professional management can take sports to the next level.
We thank the region's sports community for responding positively to the invitation, joining this initiative both in person and virtually on our Zoom and YouTube platforms.
In this way, we confirm the importance of professionalization in sports and the need for solid training in these areas.
