We are pleased to tell you that, within the framework of the celebrations for Teacher's Day in Argentina, the School of Education presented to the press on September 11 a revealing research study that shows a disturbing reality: learning gaps between students not only persist, but worsen as they progress through their school career, exacerbating educational inequalities.

This study is based on the Indicator of Educational InequalityDeveloped by Drs. Eugenia Orlicki and Cecilia Adrogué, professors at the School of Education (EEDU), the indicator measures learning disparities between students in the highest (quintile 5) and lowest (quintile 1) socioeconomic quintiles. The results show that, although these differences are evident from the early years of schooling, they deepen over time, reaching their peak at the end of secondary education.

“It is essential to address educational inequality from its structural causes, ensuring that all students, regardless of their socioeconomic status, have the necessary resources and support to successfully complete their education,” the researchers emphasize.

We congratulate Drs. Orlicki and Adrogué for this valuable contribution, which represents a significant step forward in the path towards a more equitable education system, capable of providing equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
