1. Scope and Purpose
This Privacy Policy governs the processing of personal data that the Universidad Austral This policy is implemented through its institutional website (www.austral.edu.ar) and other associated digital platforms. It applies to all individuals who interact with these media, including:
- Website Visitors and Users
- Applicants for undergraduate, postgraduate, and extension programs
- Current students and graduates
- University faculty, researchers, and staff
- External suppliers and collaborators
- Third parties who send communications or inquiries
This policy does not apply to third-party websites that can be accessed through links on our platforms. The University is not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
2. Personal Data Collected
2.1 Data provided directly
The user provides this personal data when completing forms, requesting information or starting an admissions process: identification data, contact data, academic data, employment data, financial data.
2.2 Automatically Collected Data
When you browse our sites, the following information is automatically collected:
- IP address and approximate location data
- browser type and version, operating system, device
- Pages visited, time spent, links selected, mouse movements and scrolling through the page.
- Cookie data and tracking technologies (see Section 7)
2.3 Sensitive Data
In certain processes (scholarships, disability, health, or programs with special requirements), sensitive information may be requested, as defined in Article 2 of Law 25.326. Providing this information is always voluntary and is requested with express and informed consent. This information receives enhanced protection, and its use is strictly limited to the stated purpose.
3. Purposes and Legal Basis of the Processing
Each processing purpose has a specific legal basis in accordance with Law 25.326:

4. Obtaining and Managing Consent
Consent is obtained through active and differentiated mechanisms for each purpose: checkboxes on web forms, informed acceptance in the admission process.
Consent is freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous. It may be revoked at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to revocation by writing to gobiernodedatos@austral.edu.ar. Revocation will be processed within a maximum of 10 business days.
5. Transfer to Third Parties and Suppliers
The University may share data with technology and service providers acting as data processors under a confidentiality agreement and with the guarantees of Law 25.326.
The data is never sold, transferred, or commercialized to third parties for their own purposes. It may be disclosed to public bodies only when required by law.
6. International Data Transfers
Some of our technology providers have their servers located outside of Argentina (mainly in the United States and countries of the European Union). In all cases, the following safeguards apply:
- Standard contractual clauses that guarantee a level of protection equivalent to that of Argentine law
- Express consent of the data subject where applicable
The transfer is made solely and exclusively to the extent necessary to fulfill the purposes stated in Section 3.
7. Cookies Policy
7.1 Types of cookies used

7.2 Cookie Management
Non-essential cookies require prior consent, which can be granted or refused via the cookie settings panel available on the site. You can also manage them through your browser settings. Refusing analytics or marketing cookies does not affect the site's basic functionality.
8. Data Security
The University implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, destruction, or disclosure. These include:
- Communications encryption
- Role-based access control and two-factor authentication for internal systems
- Periodic security audits and penetration tests
- Ongoing staff training in data protection
- Security incident response plans
In the event of a security breach that compromises personal data, the University will notify the AAIP and, where appropriate, the affected data subjects, in accordance with the timeframes and mechanisms provided for by current regulations.
9. Storage Periods
The data is kept for the time strictly necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, and then it is deleted or anonymized.
10. Rights of the Holders
10.1 Recognized rights
In accordance with Law 25.326, data subjects have the right to:
- Request information about what data about you is held in our records and how it is processed: Access
- Require correction of inaccurate, incomplete or outdated data: Rectification
- Request the deletion of data when there is no legal obligation to retain it: Erasure
- To object to the processing of data for specific purposes, in particular for marketing: Opposition
- To withdraw the consent given at any time: Revocation of consent
10.2 How to exercise your rights
To exercise any of the aforementioned rights, the holder must:
- Send a written request to gobiernodedatos@austral.edu.ar with the subject line “Exercise of LPDP Rights”
- Provide verifiable identification (full name and document number)
- Please specify the right you wish to exercise and the data involved.
The University will respond within a maximum period of 30 calendar days from the receipt of the complete application, in accordance with art. 14 of Law 25.326.
10.3 Complaints to the supervisory authority
If the holder believes that their request was not handled properly, they can file a complaint with the Public Information Access Agency (AAIP), the enforcement authority of Law 25.326, located at Av. Pte. Gral. Julio A. Roca 710, 3rd floor, CABA, or at www.argentina.gob.ar/aaip.
11. Minors
Applications submitted by minors are provisional until the verification of admission requirements and accreditation of conformity or intervention of their legal representatives when required by applicable regulations or institutional rules.
12. Updates to This Policy
The University reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time to reflect regulatory, organizational, or technological changes. Modifications will take effect upon publication on the website with a new effective date. For substantial changes, registered users will be notified by email at least 30 days in advance.
It is recommended that you review this policy periodically. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the published changes.
