Humanistic Studies Program

El Humanistic Studies Program It offers a training environment that allows for the integration of thought, teaching, and life. There are no islands in the world of culture, especially in this age where everything is communicated instantly. Therefore, the Program aims to create an interdisciplinary space enriched by each individual's specific training and teaching experience.

This program is proposed as Continuing Education Career of the teachers of the Universidad AustralIts curriculum design, which is developed along three axes, seeks both to strengthen and harmonize the scientific, pedagogical and humanistic training of the professors of our university, as well as to promote interdisciplinary studies.

While Humanistic Studies Program It constitutes a unitary project, designed with sufficient flexibility so that each professor can delve into the topics that have a greater impact on their own field of teaching and research. 

 

Why do the PEH?

The PEH curriculum design, which is developed in three axes, seeks both to strengthen and harmonize the scientific, pedagogical and humanistic training of the professors of our university, as well as to promote interdisciplinary work and research.

 

How is the PEH curriculum structured? 

 The curriculum consists of five seminars mandatory and a variety of seminars optional which are grouped into three formative axes: the philosophical-theological axis, the didactic-pedagogical axis and the research methodologies axis.

 

What do the mandatory seminars consist of?

The required seminars constitute the minimum common training base for all faculty members. The five required seminars address 40 contemporary debates from a Christian worldview. These courses provide a minimum common philosophical foundation in anthropology, ethics, philosophy of knowledge, and natural theology, which all UA faculty members will be able to access in the medium term.

    1. University identity and mission.
    2. Contemporary anthropological debates.
    3. Contemporary ethical debates.
    4. Knowledge and truth.
    5. Religion and society.

 

What do the optional seminars consist of?

The optional seminars cover a broad and flexible spectrum. Because they vary each year, they allow the continuing professional development offered to teachers to be tailored to their specific interests and needs. They are structured around three main areas:

    • philosophical and theological: It gives depth to the specific disciplines cultivated at the university by fostering dialogue between philosophy, theology, and the experimental and social sciences.
    • didactic-pedagogical: It helps teachers to illuminate their daily practice through the appropriate use of innovative teaching strategies and techniques.
    • research methodology: It helps to understand the methodological foundations of research work and provides tools that facilitate the search and analysis of information, the writing of scientific articles, the formulation of research projects, and the communication of research results.

 

What is the duration of the seminars?

The mandatory seminars require 20 hours of annual dedication.

Optional ones, on the other hand, have a variable duration.

 

Can the seminars I conduct be accredited towards diplomas or postgraduate qualifications?

As you progress through the seminars, you can access various certifications awarded by the Institute of Philosophy. Currently, the PEH program is articulated with five Diplomas or postgraduate programs offered by the Institute of Philosophy. Learn more about the certifications. here

 

What is the PEH tariff?

The program is designed as ongoing professional development for teachers. exclusive benefit because it is part of the Austral Community and there is no extra cost.

If I am a new teacher, what seminars can I attend?

We suggest starting with the required seminars in the PEH program. However, the choice of seminar will depend on each teacher's interests and specific training needs. The program is very flexible and has no prerequisites. When developing your plan, don't hesitate to consult with your academic secretary or program director for guidance on where to begin your training.
