Claudia Vanney

Director

She holds a Bachelor's and a Doctorate in Physics from the University of Buenos Aires and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Navarra. She began her teaching career at the University of Buenos Aires in 1988 and has been a Professor at the [unspecified institution] since 1997. Universidad AustralShe was a CONICET fellow from 1993 to 1996. She has directed or participated in twelve research projects funded by public or private entities. She received the University of Buenos Aires' Scientific and Technological Production Award in 1993, 1994, and 1995. Her research in optics has resulted in more than thirty-five presentations at conferences and publications in specialized international journals. She lived in Rome from 2003 to 2006, conducting research in the Philosophy of Science. Since receiving her doctorate in Philosophy in 2007, she has dedicated herself to research in the Philosophy of Physics. She was Director of Studies at the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Austral In the period 1997-2002, Director of Research of that same Faculty in the years 2002, 2007-2008 and Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs of the Universidad Austral the years 2008-2010. He currently directs the Institute of Philosophy of the Universidad Austral.

Deputy Director

Dr. María Belén Mesurado holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Universidad del Norte Santo Tomás de Aquino (2003) and a Doctorate in Psychology from the Universidad Nacional de San Luis (2010). She is also an independent researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), based at the Institute of Philosophy of the Universidad Austral, also holding the position of deputy director of the same.  

Dr. Mesurado is the Director of the Psychology Program at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Universidad Austral and Full Professor Level I in the subjects of Quantitative Research Methodology and Psychometrics.

Juan José Sanguineti

Director of Research

He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Navarra. He taught Philosophy of Knowledge at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Rome). He is the author of fifteen books and approximately 90 scholarly articles on epistemology, philosophy of science, philosophy of nature, philosophy of mind, and neuroscience. He directed the scientific committee of the STOQ III project (Rome, 2007-2010, University of the Holy Cross, Neuroscience area). He regularly teaches doctoral courses and seminars at various universities in Latin America. He is a full member of the Pontifical Roman Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Argentine Thomistic Society. He serves on the scientific committee of the journal “Acta Philosophica” (University of the Holy Cross).

Ignacio Silva

Researcher and professor with semi-exclusive dedication

He holds a PhD in Theology from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), where he also earned an MSc in Science and Religion and completed postdoctoral studies. He also holds a Bachelor's degree and is a Professor of Philosophy at the Catholic University of Argentina. He is the author of the book “Indeterminism in Nature and Quantum Mechanics: Werner Heisenberg and Thomas Aquinas” (Eunsa 2011), editor of “Latin American Perspectives on Science and Religion” (Pickering & Chatto 2014), and author of numerous articles in international journals in his field. Between 2011 and 2017, he was a research fellow at Harris Manchester College and the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion (University of Oxford), working on projects about divine providence and natural contingency, and about science and religion in Latin America. In 2018, he joined the Institute of Philosophy at the Universidad Australwhere he continues his work on divine and human providence. He is a member of the International Society for Science and Religion, and a member of the scientific and editorial boards of various academic journals such as Scientia et FidesStudium. Philosophy and TheologyQuaerentibus. Theology and Sciences, and TheoLogica.

Olimpia Iris Lombardi

Researcher and part-time professor

She holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), and a Bachelor's and Doctorate in Philosophy from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at UBA. She is a Principal Investigator at CONICET in the area of ​​Philosophy, specializing in Philosophy of Science.

His specialty is the philosophy of physics and chemistry, areas with very little development in our country. He currently leads a research group dedicated to the philosophies of specific sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, formal sciences), within which several CONICET researchers have been trained, as well as numerous graduate students and fellows from both Argentina and other Latin American countries. The group has a high level of research activity (publications and presentations at academic events) and a strong national and international presence.

Ivana Anton Mlinar

Researcher and part-time professor

She holds a PhD in Philosophy from the National University of Cuyo (as a DAAD fellow at the Husserl Archives of the University of Cologne, Germany). She is an Assistant Researcher at CONICET and Professor of Philosophy of Language at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of UNCuyo. She is the editor of the journal Philosophy and the Journal of Phenomenology and Cognitive Science (together with Jethro Masís). He directs the project “Phenomenology and neurosciences: perspectives on empathy” (UNCuyo).

María José Ferreira Ruiz

Researcher and part-time professor

She holds a Bachelor's and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Buenos Aires, where she completed her doctorate with a CONICET scholarship. Her work focuses on the philosophy of biology, primarily on parity theses, the problem of causal selection, and informational ascriptions in biology, but also on natural classes and dispositional properties. She has published and presented her research both regionally and internationally. She is currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Geneva, which she will continue at the University of Bielefeld.

Sebastian Fortin

Researcher and part-time professor

He holds a Bachelor's and a Doctorate in Physics from the University of Buenos Aires, and a Doctorate in Epistemology and History of Science from the National University of Tres de Febrero. He is an Adjunct Researcher at CONICET and Head of Practical Work in the Physics Department of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires. He specializes in the philosophy of physics, particularly quantum mechanics. He also works in the philosophy of chemistry.

Federico Holik

Researcher and part-time professor

PhD in Physics. He defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina). He completed postdoctoral research stays at the La Plata Physics Institute (Argentina) and at Paris Diderot University (France). He is currently an Adjunct Researcher at CONICET in the La Plata Physics Institute.

Martín Labarca

Researcher and part-time professor

He holds a PhD in Social Sciences and Humanities (National University of Quilmes), a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (National University of La Pampa), and a teaching degree in Chemistry (Higher Institute of Teacher Training No. 45, Buenos Aires). He is an Independent Researcher at CONICET (National Scientific and Technical Research Council). He has been a Visiting Researcher at universities in Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay. He specializes in the philosophy of chemistry, an area in which he has published articles in internationally circulated philosophical, scientific, and chemistry education journals. He is a member of the Association of Philosophy and History of Science of the Southern Cone and the International Society for the Philosophy of Chemistry.

Marcelo Losada

Researcher and part-time professor

He holds a Bachelor's and a Doctorate in Physical Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina). He completed postdoctoral research stays at the University of Buenos Aires and the University of Cagliari (Italy). His work focuses on the foundations of quantum mechanics and quantum information, primarily on quantum history formalisms and the interpretation of quantum mechanics.

Juan Camilo Martínez González

Researcher and part-time professor

He holds a PhD in the history and epistemology of science (National University of Tres de Febrero, Buenos Aires, Argentina) and is a professor of chemistry (Francisco José de Caldas District University, Bogotá, Colombia). He currently serves as secretary of the International Society for the Philosophy of Chemistry and as a postdoctoral fellow supported by the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET). His research focuses on the philosophy and history of chemistry, particularly covalent bonding models, electronegativity scales, and the quantum mechanical description of molecular structure.

Juan Francisco Franck

Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and part-time professor at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences

He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the International Academy of Philosophy (Liechtenstein) and completed postdoctoral studies in the USA, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain. He is the author of the book “From the Nature of the Mind to Personal Dignity” (CUA Press 2006) and numerous articles in his field. Between 2005 and 2010, he was a researcher at the Catholic University of Argentina, focusing on the problem of corporeality and topics in the philosophy of knowledge. He subsequently joined the Institute of Philosophy of the Universidad Australwhere he focused on the philosophy of neuroscience. In his presentations and work, he seeks to integrate different approaches (classical, modern, phenomenological, analytical) when addressing the philosophical problems posed by neuroscience. He is also a professor of Modern Philosophy at the Universidad del Norte Santo Tomás de Aquino.

Ignacio Aguinalde

Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and full-time professor at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences

He holds degrees in Philosophy and Psychology from the Catholic University of Argentina. He is the author of the preliminary study and annotated translation of Thomas Aquinas's Commentary on Aristotle's Book On Generation and Corruption, The Principles of Nature and Other Cosmological Treatises, published by EUNSA (2005) and from the book Psychology(EDUCA 2009). He has worked on research projects promoted by the University of Navarra. His areas of interest are the philosophy of nature, epistemology, and cognitive psychology. He is a professor of Philosophical Anthropology and Statistics at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Navarra. Universidad AustralHe is currently finishing his doctoral thesis on the Philosophy of Mind in the thought of the American author John Searle.

Mariano Asla

Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and full-time professor at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences

He holds a degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of Argentina and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Navarra. He is the author of the book “Universal Moral Grammar: A Cognitive Approach to Moral Law?”, published by EUNSA. He is an adjunct professor of Philosophical Anthropology and Ethics at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Universidad AustralShe is also a member of the Council on Ethics in Medicine (CAEEM) of the National Academy of Medicine. Her area of ​​interest is philosophical naturalism, particularly in areas such as the cognitive sciences of morality and religion, the philosophy of pain, and the question of human universals and innatism.

Soledad Paladino

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Universidad AustralShe is a surgical instrument technician trained at the Italian Hospital (Buenos Aires) and holds a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Rome). She is the author of the book “Theonomous Autonomy and Participatory Theonomy: Towards an Understanding of Just Moral Autonomy Based on ‘Veritatis Splendor’,” published by EDUSC. She serves as an adjunct professor of Ethics and Theology at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Universidad AustralShe is currently developing a research project on the ethical issues of the use of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and healthcare.

Santiago Resett

Researcher

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Catholic University of Argentina, a Bachelor's degree in Educational Sciences, and a teaching degree in Educational Sciences from the National University of Entre Ríos. He earned his PhD in Psychology from the Catholic University of Argentina. He is an Assistant Researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET). He teaches at the Argentine University of Business, the Catholic University of Argentina, and the National University of Entre Ríos. He is the author of numerous scientific publications, books, book chapters, and presentations at national and international scientific conferences. His research focuses on the socio-emotional development of adolescents and emerging adults, bullying, cyberbullying, grooming, trolling, cyberstalking, and the problematic use of new technologies, including bullying and psychopathy in incarcerated individuals.

Lucas Rodriguez

Bachelor's and Doctoral degrees in Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina. Assistant Researcher in the Scientific Research Career Track of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET). Full Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina in Adolescent Psychology and Psychology of Adulthood and Old Age. Postgraduate Professor at the Catholic University of Uruguay. Author of numerous publications in scientific journals, book chapters, and presentations at national and international conferences. 

Research topics: Developmental Psychology in adolescence, adulthood, and old age. In particular, socio-moral development, which includes the following themes: prosocial behavior, values, friendship, forgiveness, empathy, among others.

Pedro María Iturralde

Bachelor of Psychology from the Universidad Austral. She works as a professor in the Psychology program at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Universidad Austral in the subjects of Quantitative Research Methodology and Psychometrics.
