New appointments of authorities

The Board of Directors of the Faculty of Engineering would like to inform you that, starting in January 2026, new appointments to academic positions have been implemented: Victor Herrero He assumed the roles of Director of the Doctorate in Engineering and Director of the Biomedical Engineering program; Hernán Ferrari He joined as Deputy Director of the Doctoral Program; and Ignacio Cassol He assumed the role of Secretary of Research.

Victor A. Herrero
Doctor of Engineering (Balseiro Institute, UNCuyo), Nuclear Engineer and Chemical Engineer. He is a full-time Professor at the Universidad Austral and a Full Member of the National Academy of Education. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at various times and as Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs of the Universidad AustralHe also served as the Faculty's Research Secretary. He conducts scientific research in modeling, simulation, and applied engineering, with publications in international journals and the supervision of postgraduate projects and theses.

Hernán J. Ferrari
He holds a PhD and a Bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences (University of Buenos Aires) and is a CONICET researcher. He is a professor and researcher in materials physics and plasmons, focusing on optical and electromagnetic phenomena in nanostructures. He teaches and conducts research and development projects at the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Austral and as a lecturer at the National University of Quilmes. He has multiple scientific publications in international journals of optics and photonics and participates in the training of postgraduate human resources.

 

Ignacio Cassol

He holds a PhD in Computational and Industrial Mathematics (UNCPBA), a Master's degree in Software Engineering (ITBA), a Master's degree in Computer Science and Technology (Polytechnic University of Madrid), and a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Engineering (UTN). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at TECNUN (University of Navarra, Spain). He is a Full Professor at the Universidad Austral and a researcher at LIDTUA. His current field of research is bioinformatics. He also has extensive experience in teaching and administration: he was Director of Computer Engineering and Director of Biomedical Engineering at the Universidad Austral.

These appointments are part of the strengthening of academic and research areas, with the aim of continuing to promote career development, academic quality and knowledge generation from the Faculty.

We would also like to give special recognition to Gabriela Robiolo, who leaves her roles as Director of the Doctorate and Secretary of Research, and highlight her commitment, dedication and valuable contribution to the development of research in the Faculty during her tenure.

We especially value the availability and commitment of those who assumed these new roles, as well as the work of all the teams that support the teaching and management tasks on a daily basis.
