On Friday, November 18, the second Research Master Class of the Universidad Austral, an event that began in 2021 in commemoration of the institution's 30th anniversary and, on this occasion, was led by Dr. Marcelo José Villar.
To begin the event, the rector, Julián Rodríguez, stated: “We are interested in focusing on research, recognizing the work of researchers and the importance they have for this institution.”
Then, Dr. Domingo Tarzia, Vice-Rector of Research, introduced Dr. Marcelo Villar and stated: “Researchers are people who have spent many sleepless nights, worked several weekends, and sometimes even gotten up at 3 a.m. with an idea for a piece of writing. They are people who have something special, who give life to the Faculty.”
Next, Dr. Marcelo Villar received a diploma in recognition of his work and began his master class, giving a brief overview of his professional career: from his beginnings in the Medicine program at the University of Buenos Aires, through his postdoctoral studies in Stockholm, to his current appointment as Senior Researcher at CONICET, in the Pain Group of the Institute of Translational Medicine Research at the Universidad Austral.
During his stay in Sweden he met Dr. Juan Gallo, who invited him to work on the Medicine career project at the Universidad AustralDr. Villar explained how the team and the professors of the different subjects were formed, and shared the beginnings of the Institute of Translational Medicine Research and the thesis students who participated in it.
“The University is a place where we must love by serving, serve by being valuable, be valuable by loving, in an endless cycle where each word feeds the next, constantly. In these classes, it's customary to give advice; I shared my story, and I'm left with the feeling that this journey has been worthwhile,” concluded Dr. Villar, thanking everyone who was part of that journey.
