“It’s great to be able to continue helping through Austral, since the operations they organize are very interesting and, in addition, they give us the opportunity to stay in contact with other people who are also involved.”, says Katia Camissa, a graduate in Computer Engineering, who participated in the last Solidarity Trip for Women to Mar del Plata, organized by Vida Universitaria together with Conin.
College life seeks to promote the development of virtues for students and graduates of the Universidad Austral achieve a life with purpose and, as a result, a happy life. How? Through various activities that allow them to develop their potential, integrate with peers from all majors, learn from and alongside them, and enrich themselves as individuals and professionals. Conin's health outreach programs are one such activity, bringing together both current students and graduates of the University who volunteer, visiting vulnerable neighborhoods and inviting families to the clinics for pediatric checkups for children and workshops for parents on healthy living and nutrition, among other activities.
Throughout her career, Katia participated in many of these activities. “I went to two summer health operations with Conin, to some meetings on Saturdays at Conin Derqui and I also spent a year providing school support at the Las Lilas Health Post,” She lists them. Today, as a graduate working as a Software Engineer at Capgemini, she continues to dedicate time to providing help. “This trip was a challenge. We went to a new place and we had to gain people’s trust and get them to come to the clinics. It was really worth it because we were able to treat some children at high risk of malnutrition and refer them to the Conin Center.”She speaks enthusiastically and concludes with words of encouragement for those who don't know how to help: “Charity activities are a small sacrifice with an enormous reward. If you are interested in helping and don't know how or where, the activities of the Universidad Austral They're a great place to start. They're also a way to find people who share similar interests and make new friends with students or graduates from all majors.”
