In order to enrich their university careers through interdisciplinarity, the School of Nursing and the School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh (United States) relied for the second time on the Universidad Austral to develop the program “PITTHEALTH: Healthcare in Argentina” which they offer to their first-year students. The objective of the program is to learn about the Argentine health system and compare it with their own, as well as to address the issue of health from both a management and care perspective.

In the student auditorium of the Olivo Building on the Pilar Campus, a meeting between students known as “Student MixerA total of 15 students from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and School of Business and 11 students from the Universidad Austral (7 Nursing students, 2 Digital Business students, 1 Business Economics student, and 2 International Relations students) enjoyed lunch and discussed various cases related to healthcare management. They also exchanged ideas, knowledge, and customs from their respective countries. Undoubtedly, it was an enriching activity for all the young people who were able to connect with their peers from another country and learn about their different perspectives on the same issues. The group of international students is led by Dr. Grant Martsolf, professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, and Lynnea Lombardi, Program Manager of Global Programs Pittsburgh (USA). Universidad AustralThe program is coordinated by Dr. Gabriel Novick, professor at the Faculty of Business Sciences and Director of Swiss Medical Group, along with María Gabriela Espeche, director of International Affairs, and Eugenia Elizalde, a graduate of the Nursing program at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences. The American students also visited the Austral University Hospital, where they met with Dr. Marcelo Pelizzari, Director of the Department of Quality and Patient Safety, and toured the facilities with nurses from the hospital. They then went to the Austral Comprehensive Care Unit (UCIA), where they were received by Dr. Eduardo Mutto and learned more about the unit.

Other enriching tours In addition to visiting the HUA and UCIA hospitals in Pilar, the Healthcare in Argentina program included visits to several healthcare institutions in Buenos Aires. On the first day of the program, they visited the Sanatorio Los Arcos, where they were received by its director, Dr. Jorge Lantos.
