Materials Laboratory

The area of ​​materials engineering is fundamental to industrial development.
This laboratory provides direct services to industry and also cross-cuttingly with the other laboratories of the technology hub, in both cases favoring research, development, innovation and improvement of quality and productivity.
We work with:

  • metallic materials
  • Ceramic materials (biomaterials)
  • Superficial treatments

SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE LABORATORY

  • Integrity of equipment and facilities, both surface and subsurface, including applied mechanics analysis (finite elements and others).
  • Corrosion and mitigation methods
  • Failure analysis and material selection, including the eventual redesign of equipment and components.
  • Materials analysis, destructive and non-destructive testing, weld analysis
  • Development of materials for bioengineering, combining materials and biomaterials technology with electronics (working in conjunction with the mechatronics and automation laboratory)
  • Training for industries on specialized technological knowledge
  • Continuing education in updated technological and productive knowledge aimed at teachers from local technical and professional education institutions
