The School of Education and the UPM Foundation, Uruguay, together in a project for the training of teachers and managers

The School of Education, together with the UPM Foundation, has launched a project to train teachers and administrators in rural areas of Uruguay in order to to support the development of the community and contribute to its long-term strengthening.

The fourth cohort of the course will begin in 2026. “Literacy: how to promote reading comprehension and fluency” , following a successful third cohort developed in 2025. In this new edition, 100 students will participate.

The overall objective of this training course is to provide concrete tools to teach reading effectively, based on contributions from neuroscience, and to promote the development of reading fluency and text comprehension.

During 2024 The following programs were carried out:

  • Diploma in Didactic Skills for the Innovation of Teaching and Learning Processes with the objective that the participant acquires a solid foundation in the pedagogical and didactic skills and knowledge necessary for the effective practice of teaching; that he manages technology creatively to enhance the teaching-learning process; that he is able to adapt to different training contexts, both in face-to-face and virtual environments and that he develops skills in innovation to create and rethink training spaces for adolescents and adults.

 

  • Literacy course: how to promote reading comprehension and fluency, with the goal of enabling participants to learn how to teach reading, monitor progress in reading fluency, and promote reading comprehension based on scientific evidence.

 

  • School Management Program with the objective that participants acquire a strategic view of management, know and know how to communicate effectively to their audiences, manage professionally the design and development of the curriculum, understand the factors that impact the motivation of collaborators, the team climate and the performance of their institution.
