IX International Congress of International Relations “Disability: From Inclusion to Coexistence”

On Wednesday, September 18, the IX International Congress on Interpersonal Relations “Disability: From Inclusion to Coexistence”, in the San Martín Hall of the Buenos Aires City Legislature.
Before a packed auditorium with attendance that remained constant throughout the day, the authorities opened the congress with their welcoming remarks: Mr. Julián Rodríguez, rector of the Universidad Austral; Dr. Lorena Bolzon, dean of the Institute of Family Sciences; Dr. Romina Núñez, Deputy Executive Director of the National Disability Agency; of the Dr. María Luisa González Estevarena, deputy for the City of Buenos Aires, and the Ms. Clara Muzzio, Deputy Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires.
The opening conference was given by Ms. María Belén AliciardiConsultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), UNDP, OAS and CAF and academic coordinator of the Master's Program in Environmental Policy, Law and Management of the Universidad AustralHe pointed out that “people with disabilities are the world’s largest minority, yet they are completely invisible. We must reverse this invisibility. Our GDP would increase by 3 to 7 points if we included them. But we lack a national disability census; the last one was in 2010, and this distorts the implementation of policies. We don’t have current figures. This is the great outstanding debt in our country.”
Following this, the first panel was held, which dealt with “Disability and society”, in charge of Dr. Luis María Caballero, Mr. Lucas Bellotti, Laura López Ojeda, Esq., and Raúl Borgialli, Esq..
The second panel addressed the topic “Disability and education” awarded by the Dr. Paola Delbosco, Valeria Follonier, Esq., Cont. Germán Ejarque, and the Ms. Cecilia Salas.
The next panel focused on “Disability and the Labor Market”, developed by the Belén Urbaneja, Spain, Florencia Actis, Esq., Ms. Nicole Aberg Cobo y Inés Voncini, Esq., and Julieta Scaramella, M.Sc..
The last panel “Comprehensive Health and Family” he was in charge of the Ms. Maite Lot, the Dr. Fernando Burgos, Fermín Murall, and Francisco Biaggio.
The closing conference was conducted by matthew salvattoThe CEO and founder of Asteroid Technologies, thanked the authorities “for putting disability on the agenda. My family introduced me to the world of disability and is very committed, since many disabilities have been made invisible.” He noted that the Háblalo app “already has almost 420.000 active users from 75 countries across 5 continents who use it completely free of charge.” “If we could do it, imagine if everyone worked in this direction. From Argentina, we can set an example; we can lead the way in the world of sensitivity and accessibility.”
