On August 14th, the auditorium of the Olivo Building of the Universidad Austral The event honoring General José de San Martín, organized by the Office of Institutional Relations and University Life, was filled with patriotic fervor. It was an opportune moment to delve deeper into the legacy of the Father of the Nation, highlighting the values that unite us as Argentinians.
The meeting began with the screening of a documentary produced by the Pilar native Daniel CircostaThis audiovisual work, rich in historical details and testimonies, offers a moving look at the life and achievements of San Martín. It paved the way for a panel discussion on the educational, historical, and cultural project of the "Crossing of the Andes on Muleback" and "The Leadership of General José de San Martín."

Members of the panel participated in the Sanmartiniana Cultural Association "Cradle of the Flag"Among them were its founder, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Víctor Hugo Rodríguez; its president, Architect Andrés Haugh; and its vice president, Víctor Hugo Rodríguez (Jr.). They addressed crucial topics regarding the enduring relevance of San Martín's ideals and the importance of transmitting them to new generations. The distinguished presence and participation of the General San Martín Mounted Grenadiers Regiment (RGC) enriched this presentation.
The San Martín Cultural Association "Cradle of the Flag," founded in 1996, is a fundamental pillar in the dissemination and preservation of San Martín's legacy. Since its inception, it has carried out numerous cultural and historical activities that seek to keep the spirit of San Martín's heroic deeds alive. Among its most notable initiatives is the "San Martín Expedition," a journey that allows participants to relive the crossing of the Andes on muleback, emulating the historic route of the Liberating Army. This project, more than just a trip, represents a profound exercise in connecting with our history and a reinforcement of patriotic values.

This meeting at the University was a great contribution to the commitment of the academic community to historical memory and national values.
