“Hero” – 48th Argentine Conference on Informatics

Dr Gabriela Robiolo, professor at the Universidad AustralMariana Falco, a doctoral student, and Dr. Belén Mesurado, an associate researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, presented the work “Hero: A Software for the Promotion of Prosocial Behaviors of Adolescents in a Playful Context”, at the 48th Argentine Conference on Informatics held in the city of Salta, Argentina from September 16 to 20, 2019. The meeting brings together computer professionals interested in the development of new programs.

The educational sphere is not only a space for teaching and learning, but also seeks the holistic improvement of the individual, both personally and socially. Prosocial behavior aims to improve the situation of the person receiving help. In this context, the objective of this article is to present the Hero software, the first intervention program for prosociality, which seeks to develop prosocial behavior by promoting socio-emotional variables: Empathy, Gratitude, Satisfaction, Forgiveness, and Social Commitment. The functionalities and interface, the game logic, and the current state of Hero will be described. Finally, conclusions and future guidelines will be presented.
