Presentation

We know that violence is a growing social problem, and that, despite numerous efforts, calls for help and assistance are becoming increasingly frequent. At the same time, studies of the causes of antisocial behavior, which attempt to explain its roots, only serve to highlight the multifaceted nature of violence from a multidimensional perspective. This is why addressing and preventing violence are the focus of national and international organizations concerned with ending this scourge.

Both international organizations and human rights conventions uphold the duty to prevent violence and emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach to violence in its various forms. Thus, training on violence is presented as an essential tool for its eradication.

This specialization is an academic program that responds to a growing demand for training, seeking to provide appropriate responses to the prevention of gender-based violence and child abuse from various disciplinary perspectives, in a comprehensive manner. It aims to offer training in the development of the necessary skills and abilities to address diverse risk situations, focusing on the prevention of personal and social harm. It provides an effective and broad preventative approach to large social sectors such as children and women, who are particularly vulnerable to the various forms of abuse and violence. This postgraduate program seeks to provide interdisciplinary training tools to professionals working in diverse social contexts, with a holistic view of violence, its causes, effects, spheres of development, and the various intervention methods for prevention. All of this is aimed at preventing the structural perpetuation and reproduction of violence.

The Specialization in Prevention and Intervention of Gender Violence and Child Abuse aims to provide a solid foundation in theoretical, methodological, and analytical aspects, fostering critical, creative, and comprehensive thinking for decision-making. This training is designed to cultivate practical management skills that enable effective prevention and, when necessary, intervention in diverse situations of violence and abuse. Furthermore, this Specialization offers the possibility of continuing with postgraduate studies to reach the Master's level. In this way, it seeks to empower its graduates to take a significant leap forward in their professional careers.
