mutual in difference.

Congress Collection

The following titles correspond to the publications of the International Congresses organized by the Center for the Study of Interpersonal Relations of the Universidad Austral.

To celebrate the first 20 years of the Institute of Family Sciences, and in the context of the International Year of the Family, the Center for the Study of Interpersonal Relationships (CERI) organized the first conference in 2014, "The Family, Between the Public and the Private," with the aim of initiating a long series covering different topics each year. It continued in 2015 with "Violence and Society," which delved into one of the issues of greatest concern to Argentines. In 2016, CERI focused on inclusion, in this case of older adults, under the title "Discarding vs. Inclusion. Towards a Redefining the Older Adult." This conference analyzed the new lifestyles of older adults, highlighting the important role of grandparents as educators and transmitters of values, and their legacy in family ties and intergenerational relationships.

Proceedings of the IV International Congress of the Center for the Study of Interpersonal Relations of the Universidad AustralDeveloped in the cities of Pilar and Buenos Aires on November 21 and 22, 2017. “In 2017, we delved deeper, once again, into inclusion, but with a focus on the rights of the child as a vulnerable individual in need of a family to educate and nurture them, and a society to support and protect them. On this occasion (…), we saw the importance of highlighting the essential role of the family and its need for state support to ensure that the child's education fosters the development of their personality and abilities, preparing them for adulthood. But also the importance of redefining, from all sectors, true respect for their dignity and their right to live and enjoy a healthy life, protecting them against mistreatment, abuse, addictions, and family and social abandonment.”

In these days of scientific exchange and outreach, we aim to rethink the invisible faces of poverty, and to do so from a comprehensive perspective. We understand that poverty is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon that transcends the economic dimension and refers to any social deprivation or deficiency that affects the full development of human potential. Thus, a person who would not qualify as poor based on their monetary income may be multidimensionally poor, presenting social, educational and cultural, civil and political, and interpersonal deficiencies.

This publication contains the papers presented at the VI International Congress on Interpersonal Relations: “Human Development in Times of (Re)evolution 4.0”, held on September 25 and 26, 2019, at the Campus of the Universidad Austral (Pilar, Buenos Aires) and in the golden hall of the Buenos Aires City Legislature (CABA), respectively.

Just as in the family, it is crucial in universities to maintain an empathetic perspective that does not lose sight of the needs of each individual.”

They also noted that “this joint effort of the Universidad AustralThe collaboration between the University of Navarra and UPAEP has resulted in a work that invites reflection on human interdependence and social commitment.”
