Public trust in institutions is a key factor for democratic legitimacy, the quality of public policies, and the ability of governments to respond effectively to societal demands. However, trust does not depend solely on general perceptions: it is associated with concrete factors such as the responsiveness of institutions, the reliability of public action, integrity, openness, citizen participation, and the quality of public services.

This session of the OECD Dialogue Cycle will analyze the main determinants of trust in public institutions and the policies that can help strengthen it.

What specific factors strengthen citizen trust and what policies can help build more trustworthy, open, and responsive governments?
