Alejandro Sureda, director of the Master's Program in Mobility and Automotive Management at the Faculty of Engineering, participated in the Mobility Summit 2025 from El Cronista to reflect on the future of the industry. Its focus was on the challenge of practices of circular economy and the need for a profound transformation that goes beyond the electrification of vehicles.
In this transformation process, the Lean 4.0 methodology appears. It is a symbiosis of lean manufacturing (which emerged at Toyota in the 50s in Japan), with Industry 4.0, paying special attention to the energy cost and environmental impact of the entire manufacturing process.

“It’s no longer just about manufacturing more efficient vehicles, but about rethinking the entire production line to reduce environmental impact. In this process, Lean 4.0 emerges as the methodology that combines digitalization, efficiency, and sustainability,” Sureda emphasized.

Sureda directs the Master's Program in Mobility and Automotive Management together with Carlos Pettinaroli y Leonardo SolerWith extensive experience in the automotive industry, the specialist led the areas of manufacturing, logistics and continuous improvement at Ford and was key in the implementation of the FPS system in South America and in the promotion of Lean Manufacturing.
The participation of the master's program director underscores the commitment of the Faculty of Engineering with the cutting edge of the automotive industry and the training of professionals who will lead this transformation.
The faculty's proposal offers a comprehensive and strategic vision of the business, preparing leaders who understand everything from technology (electromobility, connectivity) to the management and the new value chains. The curriculum is designed to immerse the professional in today's major challenges: Electromobility, connected and autonomous mobility ecosystems, and new technologies applied to production and logistics.
The practical educational model brings a A key differentiator in their methodology, based on real case studies and the participation of a teaching staff that combines top-level academics and leading professionals of the industry. This ensures high-value networking and a direct connection to market demands.
