Objectives

This semi-structured doctoral program aims to train professionals with research and development skills. This training will enable them to make original contributions to engineering sciences by conducting research, development, innovation, and technology transfer activities, and will develop their ability to understand and interact with other areas of science.

Study plan

The curriculum is semi-structured and consists of three areas of training:

1. Basic training consists of three courses designed to introduce the doctoral student to research tasks and the scientific method, within an ethical framework, and these are:

  • Research Seminar
  • Philosophy
  • Ethics

Workload: 58 hours.

2. Specialization training is a personalized phase for each doctoral candidate, consisting of specialized courses selected jointly by the candidate and their thesis supervisor. The doctoral candidate must complete the equivalent of 24 credits, with each subject worth between 1 and 5 credits, depending on the workload and other parameters established by the Doctoral Academic Committee. As a guideline, 1 credit will be awarded for every 10 hours of in-person theoretical or practical classes.

Requirement of 24 credits (approximately 240 hours).

3. Completing a doctoral thesis involves conducting original research, which must be demonstrated by at least one publication in an indexed, peer-reviewed international journal. This publication may be substituted by a national or international patent granted for a direct result of the thesis work that is relevant, thus including development and innovation projects.

Approximate workload of 4500 hours.

Information

The requirements and qualification exams for admission:

  • Possess a university degree of at least five (5) years in duration, issued by an Argentine or foreign university in engineering or related areas,
  • Submit the Registration Application and the documentation required therein;
  • Present a thesis topic, along with a brief description of the objectives expected to be achieved and the methodology to be used;
  • Indicate your thesis supervisor, with their approval, and
  • Schedule a personal interview with the PhD Director.

 The purpose of these requirements is to enable applicants to participate in research projects led by faculty and researchers. Universidad Australor research projects at partner universities. This ensures that doctoral students have the resources and a supervisor to begin and advance their research, culminating in their publications or patents and their doctoral dissertation. As an intermediate step, incoming students are given one year to submit a Dissertation Plan detailing their research topic for admission to the Doctoral Academic Committee.
