What do we believe in when we create something new? What is our design policy?

With these two questions we began yesterday's Open Class on the Executive Program in Design for Social ImpactAnd we formally began this course, which constitutes a milestone for the School of Postgraduate Studies in Communication, as it thus begins its First postgraduate program in the area of ​​Design: a design linked to behavioral sciences and focused on people, focused on the social transformation and in the creation of opportunities to improve the quality of life in our immediate surroundings and the region. design as a culture creator and new perspectives to challenge reality.

This new program proposes an innovative approach, organized in three major disciplinary axes: design, behavioral economics and social impact. Conceived and designed by professors Mariana Ferreira, Maria Sanchez, Stefano Pratesi and teachers from ISIA University in Rome, we assume that Design must focus on people, and it must be approached from the perspective of its potential for interdisciplinary work.Thus, we propose your interaction with the behavioral sciences and a systemic view of the present and the future, which promotes relevant changes to positively impact society today and tomorrow. 

Design is linked, among other things, to public space and people's behavior, and from this perspective we especially invite Anahí López, The Operational Manager of Circular Economy for the City of Buenos Aires (GCBA) explained the project that achieved a change in the city's residents' habits regarding waste recycling starting in 2021. On the other hand, Three professors represented ISIA Roma Design, a university participating in the Program. Professor Stefano Pratesi reflected on the importance of revolutionizing design from a transformational, interdisciplinary perspective focused on relationships. The PhD candidate, Luca Baldini, She developed her research on design policies and social innovation in the public sector, based on an interpretive model with different audience clusters, distinguishing between the user, the citizen, and the human being, and presented three case studies on design related to public space. For her part, Raissa Trinci, professor of service design at ISIA-Rome, focused on speculative, critical, and futuristic design, which explores possible futures and projects scenarios and prototypes that help us think critically. What if…? This is the question that leads us to think about… design and its role in the future of society.
