The Brain and the Person. A New Interdisciplinary Research Project

Are we only our brains? What neuroscientific discoveries illuminate our understanding of the human person in a new way? Are the studies of the brain and mind sufficient to account for man's openness to God?

In March 2016, a new interdisciplinary research project led by the Institute of Philosophy began. This is a three-year project: The cerThe Ebro River and the individual. What new insights does neuroscience bring to our understanding of the human person?, which will address various issues at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, and theology.

The project includes holding a monthly seminar. Person, mind and brain and two Interdisciplinary Research WeeksThese meetings, to be held in August 2017 and 2018, aim to foster positive, constructive, and productive interaction between scientists and humanists, providing a foundation for various academic works. The publication of a popular science book and the production of three short videos to disseminate research findings to the general public are also planned.
