Debate on the new civil justice system: confronting models

Several Argentine provinces are moving forward with reforms to civil procedure that aim for greater orality, immediacy, and efficiency. Neuquén recently implemented, for the first time in Latin America, an adversarial civil procedure. Meanwhile, Chubut is advancing with a different draft General Code for civil, labor, family, and collective proceedings.

In this debate, which will be presented and moderated by Dr. Gustavo Calvinho, both experiences will be compared to analyze their foundations, scope and differences.

Which model of civil justice offers greater efficiency, impartiality, and respect for procedural guarantees: the adversarial process already in force in Neuquén or the draft General Code of Chubut?

Guillermo Walter, Judge of the Court of Appeals of the Province of Chubut, and Manuel Castañón López, Judge of the Court of Appeals of the Province of Neuquén, will debate both models, with closing remarks by Prof. Adolfo Alvarado Velloso, a leading figure in procedural law.
