The transcendence of the in Civil Law For life in community it is undeniable, since it is the order that regulates the human person from conception produced prior to their birth; during all his life, in its various scenarios that must necessarily go through its ontological character of being social par excellence, founding a family, carrying out the various acts proper to human development to attend to subsistence and the existential program, making various contracts, acquiring ownership and other real rights, suffering and generating damages that must be compensated; and until after his physical disappearance, through the distribution mechanisms of assets in inheritances.
Civil law is to the legal system what the nervous system is to the human being. It is a discipline that governs social conduct of paramount importance with a strong emphasis on accessibility.
It cannot be disputed that, from a “hierarchical” analysis, the National Constitution and human rights treaties of equivalent value occupy the highest normative position. However, the broad guidelines established by these norms, as well as the values and principles they contain, permeate “everyday life” through the laws that regulate the exercise of the rights they recognize or establish. From this latter perspective, Civil Law plays its most prominent role.
Professional practice in the field of Civil Law is highly rewarding, both in terms of the scope of practice and the subject matter. Furthermore, the connections that Civil Law maintains with other branches of law and with numerous other areas of study—from bioethics to economics—allow professionals to develop on multiple levels, facilitating the desirable convergence of "vocation," "profession," and "occupation."
The Master's Degree in Civil Law pursues the following central objectives:
➤ To deepen knowledge of the axes of patrimonial and non-patrimonial Civil Law, through updated access to national legislation, doctrine and jurisprudence and those contained in comparative law.
➤ To stimulate analytical and argumentative thinking skills, and to perfect the abilities to develop them.
➤ Link the knowledge acquired with the new ideas that are incorporated, all within a systematic framework that, guided by general principles, contributes to reflective thinking.
➤ Interrelate the studies, not only with other legal disciplines, but also with the philosophical field, with special attention to ethics.
➤ Develop skills for case analysis and resolution, based on hypothetical or real cases, with particular emphasis on judicial rulings.
➤ To promote greater suitability in individual thinking and in teamwork, integrated by taking into account different personalities, profiles and professional trajectories.
The various requirements of the Master's Degree in Civil Law will be geared towards training students so that, as graduates, they are recognized for:
➤ Consistent knowledge of the different topics of Civil Law.
➤ The ability to provide answers to the new challenges of the national and foreign legal reality.
➤ The ability to develop, motivate and lead interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams, generating the commitment of their collaborators and the improvement of their skills.

The curriculum is semi-structured It consists of two cycles: a structured pathway comprising compulsory subjects and an unstructured pathway encompassing elective curricular content. The structured pathway is organized into 19 curricular activities, totaling 444 hours.
This Curriculum provides for a minimum of 120 hours of classes for elective subjects, which must be fulfilled through subjects regularly offered by the Department of Civil Law for the Master in Civil Law, identified with “*”; through subjects offered by the Faculty of Law, or by other academic units of the Universidad Austral, that represent a substantial or instrumental relationship with Civil Law; or through subjects taught and taken at a foreign University.
OTHER APPROVAL REQUIREMENTS
To obtain the Master's degree in Civil Law, students must successfully complete an individual, written final project in the form of a monograph. This project is designed to demonstrate the integration of knowledge acquired throughout the program, the deepening of expertise in a professional field, and the application of innovative skills and perspectives within the profession. The final project will be developed under the guidance of a Master's Thesis Advisor and will be evaluated by a panel of examiners through an oral and public defense.
The Final Project must consist of a serious personal task that demonstrates proficiency in the theoretical, conceptual, methodological and analytical handling corresponding to the current state of knowledge in the area in question, as well as the student's ability to transmit their knowledge, oriented towards the exercise of the profession or the improvement of the function they perform.
The educational methodology of the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Austral It is based on the case method, which it pioneered in Argentina and throughout the Spanish-speaking world. This method involves the professor presenting a "case"—that is, a hypothetical or real factual account with the questions it raises—for students to analyze and resolve. After studying the case, a plenary debate takes place, all under the guidance of the professor in charge of the class.
The Master's program aims to provide practical training. It places students in a leading role in the learning process. Experience indicates that when in-depth theoretical study is combined with problem-solving, students develop the essential skills for effective professional practice.
In this way, the lawyer will not only acquire the theoretical knowledge of the discipline (“knowledge”), but will also develop the skills necessary for professional practice (“know-how”).
The chosen methodology is also demanding for the teachers, as it requires them to prepare materials and actively develop the class.
To make the best use of classes and academic time, students need to read and study the material and cases provided beforehand.
The aim is to build learning on the participants' experiences, allowing them to learn both from the material previously delivered and from the students' analysis. The aim is to create a synthesis of the opinions of the professionals attending the course and, naturally, of the professor, who leads the class.
The professors aim to involve as many participants as possible in the class, transforming it into a debate of diverse opinions and a collaborative search for a solution to the case. Likewise, the professors moderate participation, giving participants the floor, guiding their contributions, asking questions, organizing comments, and sharing their experience and perspectives on the matter.
The classes end with a systematization of the conclusions reached during the study, even if these may be diverse and contradictory, in which case, with the appropriate conceptual concretization of the topic discussed.
Through the personalized academic advising system, a smooth relationship between students and professors is ensured. Each participant is assigned a professor with whom they meet regularly to discuss their academic and professional progress. The goal is to support students in any way that can contribute to improving their academic performance and their participation in university life.
The Faculty of Law has an exhaustive and demanding Regulation of Master's and Specializations, which governs the life of the different actors in all its postgraduate programs: directors, professors, officials, students.
