The Faculty of Law of the Universidad Austral It celebrated a memorandum of understanding with the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT). In the context of the Congress recently held in Asunción, Paraguay, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the UNIDROIT Principles on International Commercial Contracts, Ignacio Tirado (Secretary-General of UNIDROIT), along with Juan Ignacio Stampalija and Julio César Rivera (Jr.) (authorities of the LL.M. with a focus on Arbitration, Litigation, and International Contracts from the Universidad Austral) proceeded to formalize the memorandum of understanding on October 15th.

The memorandum will enable close collaboration between the two institutions, focusing on various academic activities, including courses, conferences, and research projects. As part of the agreement, UNIDROIT will support the LL.M. program specializing in Arbitration, Litigation, and International Contracts offered at the [institution name missing]. This support will include, among other things, the delivery of a “UNIDROIT Module” within the program, which will be taught by international experts and academics. UNIDROIT was established in 1926 as an auxiliary body of the League of Nations and was re-established in 1940. It is an independent, intergovernmental organization and today comprises 65 member states. Headquartered in Rome, its mission is to coordinate, modernize, and harmonize private and commercial law among states through the development of legal instruments, principles, and rules that contribute to this objective.
